Ok, not to sound like a know it all cnut, hope those aren't anodised fittings.

MX's don't leak. That was one of the things about the 5 that a well fitted decent quality hood doesn't leak Not like a car that has been made in to a convertible like a 205.

The majority (if not everything over -3 hose) of AN fittings are anodised aluminium.
I've only really seen steel ones for brake lines specifically (-3 hose)

Have had a bad experience with anodised fittings corroding. Since that experience I have only ever bought stainless fittings (yeah ducati performance lines are just steel) from think automotive or pritek.

I've used the anodised aluminium ones for various motorsport applications for probably the past 20yrs and had no obvious issues.

Have had the fittings fail due to corrosion on motorbike brake lines. Will add proof later.
-
• #68009
Yeah - all the fuel line fittings are aluminum. Brake and power steering are steel.

Yeah same on ours, apart from we use EPS

My 2010 mini had Bluetooth for calls but not for music. Music was either via a USB ipod adapter or aux.
Seems odd that a 2014 5 series would have had the same thing. But it could. Are 5 series like cheaper BMWs and Audis where they only give you 4 wheels and an engine as standard and make everything else an optional extra? Maybe the owner dgaf about BT integration.
Drove to Devon with a mate who refused to believe he couldn't stream his phone via BT and spent the first hour reading the user manual.

My 2007 civic has Bluetooth for calls I had to install an aftermarket thing for music streaming. You'd better believe I spent a while reading the manual to be sure it wasn't possible before spending more and taking the dash apart :) your mate sounds annoying though!

Not sure you'd want to listen to music via the first iterations of inbuilt Bluetooth anyway. Much better off with up to date aftermarket options

Like one that plugs into the cigarette lighter you mean?
-
• #68015
I'm guessing they're talking about a replacement head unit, but I went the cigarette lighter route and it's good enough for me. Though I think that's an easier call for me to make as the limiting factor in my case is a pretty average speaker system.

Sorry, not trying to argue (sorry if it came across as that) had a bad experience and was very common failure point in motorbike circles. Hence I am wary ever since. But then again these were anodised purple to match other bits of the bike.
Also for motorsport applications there is more scrutiny, and scrutineers know what to look for. Actually wonder what they use in the aeronautical industry.
Also I drone on to aircooled VW people to change the fuel lines regularly.

No worries, I hadn’t taken it that way, wasn’t trying to call you out or anything.
Aluminium AN fittings are industry standard for mil spec lines (AN meaning Army/Navy) and common in most motorsport applications for fuel and oil lines, I have only ever seen stainless or zinc coated mild steel used for brakes though, potentially there is a reason that they don’t use alloy on brake stuff with DOT fluid?

Hi all, have had my classic campervan (1973 ford Econoline) listed for a couple of months with a lot of interest but no one following through.
I've decided to list it on raffal.com, 1500 tickets, ends in November. 10% proceeds go to crisis homeless charity. £20 a ticket.
Please share with people who'd be interested!

@car-thread-users: i need to be in Koln for a wedding for a couple of days at the end of this month. The flights are all at horrible times so I reckon driving is my best bet. I live 20 mins from Dover so ferry or Eurotunnel both good options. We only have one family car and I don't want to leave Mrs Fatberg and kiddoes carless so am looking to rent something.
Any recommendations for non-scammy car rentals in Kentfofordshire that will be happy with me driving though Yerp?

A lot of rental places are quite cautious about renting for over-seas usage IIRC, as has been said - probably more straightforward to get the train over and then pick up a hire car in France.
Repsol colours don't look right to me...then I'm a martini girl ;)
