  • Honda Jazz is the forum favourite.

Although falling out of favour with the rise in catalytic converter theft - speaking as a Jazz owner who had their cat nicked.

  • Not sure how much you can be arsed or how different the models are but Edd serviced a supposedly non-serviceable compressor on a Landy on an old Wheeler Dealers, someone probably sells a kit for a lot less than 900 boys

  • Ah damn, late by 11 days!

  • Insurance and resale are the big ones. Definitely get insurance quotes ahead of time so you can work out the sums.

Pretty sure last time I looked at it the import fees and any conversion bits still meant it was cheaper for the actual car. But as you have to pay insurance every year you own the car it's a huge part of the maths.

If it's Japanese I'd be surprised if parts were an issue.

  • Yeah that is a fucker. Is there anything you can do to protect it?

    ?

  • We park it off street now, less convinced about deterrents. They’re expensive and will either be a massive pain to remove when working on the car, or easy to remove and thus not that effective a deterrent. They also run at a similar cost to replacement non-OEM parts, so I figure it’s worth seeing if just parking it out of sight keeps us going for now.

That and I can’t be bothered. Got to love owning shitboxes.

  • re: imports - Would only do it if your are after something specific that wasn't produced for the EDM

  • I'm not looking to import, but a couple of Japanese cars I've looked at are imports - my partner wants a Nissan Cube and while a few were made for the UK, most have come in from Japan.
I don't think engine spares would be an issue - they're essentially Micra's, but I'm wary of anything else that should cause me to rethink (aside from the styling!).

  • Other than insurance, I think the other main issue can be ULEZ etc, as they may not have the emissions data available (in the format expected)

  • New air compressor + 1 hour to fit, + 6 hours to chase down and fix air leak.
    Full service.
    New cam belt
Full electronic hand brake assembly tear down and service ( was making horrendous noises every now and then)
    New rear discs and pads.

    £2.2k.

Who said Landrover ownership wasn’t fun! 🤦‍♂️

  • Oh my. Definitely gives me a bit of perspective moaning about a £55 sensor.

  • I would disagree with you, the. Ate funny coloured brake fluid being the prime example.

  • Ooof.

Fair play for fixing all the problems though. Fingers crossed for a decent amount of time before the next problem...

  • fuck hoopy!

  • £2.2k.

I'd be very happy with that bill, for the work done.

  • Oh yeah, I think it’s a very fair price for the amount of work done.

I’d still rather have spent zero £’s though.

  • hey dude. been out on the road so just catching up.

roof bars were handed on to me from my brother who upgraded his on his Audi. so cost me nothing. looked online though and they are these from Nordrive

cosmic stickers from my destickered roadie douche bag rig. for a laugh I stuck one on each wheel arch. and they have stayed on. slowly ratting the BMW up and though not evident in picture it has its rust spots.

not sure what engine it is but is straight out of their Munich Tractor's Dept.

has been really good to me so far so no complaints though.

  • And they fit ok despite being for the Audi?

As for the engine being tractor like - no doubt the 2l diesel, agricultural is definitely the word. Reliable tho, apparently.

  • Just a bit of a tale of woe. I have two of the cars that Top Gear have been stated as the worst cars in the world and feel really proud of the fact. One of which we looked for specially and bought the best example we could find. The wife drives it mostly and loves the ability just to turn down the roof as much as the weather allows. This one spent a lot of years in Spain and as a result is completely rust free. !

A bit of a disaster though. The top has started making some very bad noises on opening and as a result too scared to use anymore. It is quite a known problem and a couple of cables at £125 cures the problem. Except Citroen has stopped making / supplying them and they are unavailable anywhere.
There are only about 1700 of these cars left on the road and 34 of this variant the Charleston (leather, cruise, AC) and a colour scheme from the old 2CV.
It was never an expensive or valuable car, just unusual and quirky. Now though, as good as worthless. Just sharing for cathartic reasons

  • Love it. Who wants to agree with top gear anyway!

  • yeah I don't think they are made specifically for that Audi. i think i have the literature for them and they cover a whole load of cars. but popped them straight off my brothers Audi estate on to the e46.

it's the 2l diesel yep. makes the perfect sound for the roads of East Anglia where it sees most of its blacktop anyway

  • I must’ve been searching for completely the wrong thing last time I looked; as you can easily get a set of bars for about £50 new.

  • if I spent over 50 quid on bars they would be worth more than the car
