Great, ta. And finally, because it's where I'll be for the subsequent service intervals – anyone near Bath?
-
• #63528
Not that I know of sorry :)

Balls. I should have asked you before deciding where to move to ;)

Is now the time to ask if you know anywhere in Leeds?

Not the accumulator leaking, not like the bx that dropped the rear, the xantia has a different system. The system is more advanced and doesn't drop.
You can tweak the right height control or cut a new notch in the level but it is not a great idea to run the car too low as you can destroy the rubber membrane in the suspension sphere. Also destroys bearings in the rear arms.

Afraid not, I only discovered the photos thanks to my ace internet sleuthing skills.

Just being nosey, used to have altered ride height on bx or xantia by either tweaking the ride hieghts controler or re notching the metal plate.

My mate has one, it’s cool for sure, but I won’t pretend it wouldn’t be more fun with more power.
Although having shitloads of space in the engine bay is nice. Never seen an oil filter so accessible.

Fancied the V6 ended up with the diesels.
Always wanted the xm estate. Just had the hatchback. Xm is bigger than the cx.
Oh and for oil filters, the 190e diesel is the easiest change ever. Couple of clips and lift out the filter element.
EDIT thought you were talking about the xm not the E30.

My neighbours 218i makes my E Class look small, which is always an entertaining visual gag when I leave the house.
Two 3.7’s and one 3.9:

If I'm after a decent set of sockets and spanners is the go-to choice the halfords advanced stuff? Something like this:
Anything else I should be considering?

In a word 'yes', mine have stood up to decades of abuse with only a couple of sockets replaced.

Bluepoint. It's budget Snap-On. Excellent kit without the Snap-On prices.
-
• #63548
Disagree on bluepoint as there is no guarantee, and quality is not as good.
EDIT: Am wrong, the warranty is same as snap on. The older Halfords craftsmen built stuff was brilliant, lower quality now.
-
• #63549
I’m pretty sure I have that set. Lifetime guarantee so that works for me. I am not a mechanic so only for DIY type stuff.

The only advantage of snap on is buying tools on credit. While the snap on ban appears when you owe money or to buy stuff. Warranty is selective on how much money you spend.
Have a Halfords trade card if anyone wants.
