  • The NHS glasses look isn't the greatest of styling touches..

  • Is this the ugliest SAAB ever

Quite possibly. But there are some contenders.

  • Fuck fuckity fuck

  • ^Ha, unlucky

    ^^^^Hahaha. Urgh. Spew.

@Lynx, cheers. I'll have another look then to be sure.

  • £250 from Volvo, and not a single breakers has one, damn-it

  • That seems pretty steep. Are there no aftermarket versions available anywhere?

  • Unknown, I'm buggered if I'm paying that though.

Where would you recommend for aftermarket?

  • Is that to do with the SIPS (SITS?) thing or something. The orange thing is a connection to the electronics which are activated in the crash, hence why they're so expensive?

  • Aye, there is a pyrotechnic seat-belt pre-tensioner that will fire in a crash, that's the test-tube shaped thing.

I can live without that bit.

  • I wouldnt have a clue for aftermarket Volvo stuff mate. I use Rimmerbros and my mech to source aftermarket stuff for the Classic.

  • Aye, there is a pyrotechnic seat-belt pre-tensioner that will fire in a crash, that's the test-tube shaped thing.

I can live without that bit.

In which case- Won't a regular seatbelt replacement work?

  • Unknown, I need the whole inertia reel assembly, as the belt cannot be removed from it.

There is nothing wrong with the belt, to be honest- it's the brake in the inertia reel that has jammed on.

  • ^ this sounds annoying.
Can your contact sort you out some?

  • He's in Leicester. However- I have found one (hopefully!) in a breakers yard in Brockley- off now to grab it.

  • Spot the difference:

  • how much was it from the breakers?

  • Spot the difference:

Looks like the one you bought is for the other passengers.

Also: How did you get to the breakers and back without breaking the law?

    ;)

  • Its a bicycle forum piggy- it was only in Brockley...

  • Correct- I cycled to the breakers, pulled the belt assembly, put the car back together, paid my £40 (have that Volvo spare-parts service!) and cycled home again.

  • I drive to the bus stop. Fact.

Grats Dammit, good saving there mate.

  • It made me happy- all done and put back together now.

I can now drive to my parents house for dinner on my birthday.

  • This is like an episode of Wheeler Dealers.

  • What was slightly eye opening was that the car in the wreckers yard was cleaner than mine.

I'll poke the hoover round tomorrow.

On the bright side, I picked up the floor mat to chase a bolt, and found four pounds.

  • In that case, it's £36 for the sealt belt.

  • Exactly what I thought when I found the coins!

I also found the maintenance cover for the side impact seatbelt detonator (or whatever they call that sensor/firing circuit), which was nice.
