Suspension bits are modified, think the mounts are also modified/adjustable. Would yo do the alfaholics treatment to a gtj?
-
• #61229
No, but I don't drive cars that way anyway. Motorbikes are for going fast :) I do appreciate the engineering but I've no reason or desire to drive a grown up go cart.
I liked the rolls, much more my kind of thing but still not necessary. Increasingly I look at massively overpowered cars on the streets of London and wish people would stop it.
I can understand all these 70's barges coming back to London though, historic tax and ULEZ free is going to be handy until a better option comes along.

Not dignifying this with an answer

I know what you mean.
Before covid on my motorbike ride to work I'd guess at least 1/5 cars on the start of my route were those massive German coupes with V8/similar engines. All so you can sit in traffic.
At least in a RRS or FFRR you can sit in comfort and see over things.

Rear light crash damage update - £317 for parts and labour from Mercedes Croydon, not the greatest start to Christmas but not horrific.
Time to join BC and get third party insurance...

Likewise. I always come back to that video.

Cars and motorbikes are very different. I still remember being sat on a 400/4 fuel tank and told to hold on the the handlebar and taken up and down the road. No helmet, no nothing...now that is the fastest I have ever felt in my life.
Lotus 7 copy is the definition of that, or MK1 MR2, fiat x1/9 etc.

Woh there with your firey biscuits....
Have you driven alfa of that period, that hasn't been modified? How about the alfaholics ones?

Not much help right now, but for the future you can get insurance for yourself and your partner, covering bikes, yourselves and whatever you might cause damage too. 25 quid credit, if you use my link -> https://my.laka.co/2E0S2

I grew up in Caterham so I was able to pop into the old workshop (before they moved to the swanky garage in the valley). Used to spend weekends grass track racing or hillclimbing all sorts of little cars with my dad and his mates. The health and safety was mental, adults drinking all day and kids driving the cars at lunchtime. I pranged one or two fairly decent ones driving between the courses sat on my dads knee.
Once I discovered m/bikes I didn't look back. Can't see any point in carting around a giant metal shell if what you want to do is propel yourself at the scenery.

Thanks, bike are all covered by our contents insurance but I’m definitely going to look in to third party cover.

I had a G Wagen for quite a while, loved it, but watching the petrol gauge drop just sat in traffic was sad not just economically but in terms of the environment which I can't stop myself giving a s**t about.

Mrs. Nahguavkire has been extremely keen on having a G-Wagen recently but it's that exact reason that puts me off as much as I'd love one! I have been admiring the GLE500e though...

Have you double checked whether you're covered under your home insurance?
My old policies used to.
-
• #61243
Out of curiosity was it comfortable?
Always thought they looked cool, but not that comfortable and a bit small inside compared to a RR.
-
• #61244
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately our policy only covers contents and doesn’t extend to any third party cover.
An unfortunate incident which luckily didn’t result in any injuries, the costs are a shitter but manageable. I was panicking earlier that it was going to turn in to one of Dammit’s garage visits.

• #61246
At a guess that was to me.
So what was my next comment?
EDIT have had some fortune, have been taken out in the alfaholics cars. I did not drive them, as I have a few associates who have money and class that alfaholics are nice to them. All because I let someones wife drive my fake 1.3hf fulvia.

Count yourself or other hlaf lucky they were injured. Also that you are being honest enough to cover the damage. Remember that there are people in cars that drive in to other cars and drive off.

For a moment I thought that was the 'TOF 1' numberplate Roller, a bright pink Rolls Royce owned by the guy that ran the Tea Rooms Des Artistes on Wandsworth Road back in the 80s... Allegedly once belonged to Marc Bolan, he drove us and our gear to gigs in it a few times... He was a lovely, strange chap, beautiful car...
And here's some Reader's Wives to give you a break from all the Merc chat... Dat ass...

No worries, happy to plug in cheeky discount code here and there. Also if you have a licence with British Cycling you are covered, I think.

I think you need a massive Marshall sticker across the entire back window just in case anyone misses you number plate.
On the theme of Rat Rollers I spotted this today.
