  • Just being nosey, as I will be wandering up to the area.

  • Well, Mercedes ownership is full of surprises.

  • Failed armed robbery? Doors fully blown off?

  • Is your car on fire??

  • car nicked?

  • Someone set fire to the "Welcome to Mercedes Bromley" sign whilst I was collecting my car.

Possibly, based on my recent experience, a Mercedes Bromley tech had just finished flame-proofing it, and this was the result.

  • This is my 911, it's the most comfortable car I've ever driven. Now. I have of course fucked around massively to get it to be this comfortable.

Here's my right leg in it's "natural straight-ahead" position, it's covering the throttle pedal (hard to tell I know):

Here's me in the E63, with my leg in the same position that it was in the 911. Spot the problem?

It's giving me nasty back-ache as I have to adopt a "half-man-spread" pose, in order to keep my foot on the throttle, as it's miles over to the right.

    The problem, sans right leg:

And my amazing technical drawing of what I intend on doing about it:

  • those suede loafers are concentrated golf thread.

  • I am deeply disappointed that the leg doesn’t disappear into a pair of red cords.

  • I'm getting waves of M&S menswear.

  • Definitely Partridge

  • Jeans are Finistere, shoes are Gant I think, socks are models own.

Anyway- cut and weld? Bend and add a bit on? What’s best in this situation?

  • Complete new pedals made of unobtanium by an artisan in Skye, you know you will....

  • Top tip! Halfords seem to have an alright selection and for £4 to ensure the job is done properly (well it's Halfords so probably not properly but at least you've got someone to blame if not) seems worth it! Thanks everyone else for the advice.

  • Neil not Niall.

  • Cool. Halfords autocentres are basically Nationwide Autocentres that Halfords purchased about ten years ago. They won’t necessarily have in stock everything at your local centre but will put on an equivalent as long as you are happy

I think they can be trusted for these small easy jobs. I will use them again

Yep, I used to get them to fit replacement bulbs for the headlights and sidelights on the Scooby. The former was veery fiddly due to a lack of space, the latter required unclipping the front bumper and removing the grill and the entire light cluster. Definitely worth paying a couple of quid for that.

  • Buy some Tods.. Is the throttle electronic or cable?

  • Electronic. Tods?

  • Ignore my previous link..

    Two pedals!

  • I think two pedals is a sufficiency of pedal tbh. Challenge is that the brake pedal needs to move ~70mm to the left, which means modifying the metal lever-arm. I'd prefer to bend it rather than cutting and welding, but then I think it would place the pedal-pad up too high.

The throttle is a self contained unit that is located with two bolts - provide two new threaded holes ~100mm to the left and (as long as the loom is long enough) Bob's your uncle.

  • Does the brake actually need moving that far? Porsche has the throttle much closer to the brake.

  • That's already moving the throttle 30mm closer to the brake pedal than it is at the moment.

  • Can you not just suck it up and live with it? It clearly isn't an issue for all the other E 63 owners.
Why don't you put a flat six on the back seats while you're at it 😂
