not a fan of Tesla but have to say that looks pretty awesome dude. hope was fun to drive home

It's not the performance but 0-60 is still 4.2 seconds.
Does do around 350 miles to a charge so might beat you on full to empty range too...

How come?
It's lovely to drive. Instant torque is great and it definitely feels like sitting in the future.
-
• #60605
i don't really like any cars built in the last 30 years
-
• #60606
Fair enough. There’s not much about this that’s retro for sure.
-
• #60607
like you say dude - like sitting in the future. i get that.

As much as Musk is a tool, the technology is amazing. But why can they not design interiors or exteriors with their seemingly endless resources? You cannot tell me any Tesla looks good.
-
• #60609
I get this. Also I kind of agree. Old is gold.
Apart from the interiors.
Like the progression in comfort is almost worth the weird looks imo.

I actually really like the looks. Pleased I got the current refresh which swaps out chrome trine for matte black.

Good lord. Have you seen the Accords, Camrys, Maximas and othe 4 door sedans they sell in the US? The design bar is not set high.

I had never seen a P1800 before... that's gorgeous.
-
• #60613
Nice. You're on a timer now though. Once that kid turns two they'll be kicking the shit out of the backs of the seats with their dirty shoes.
-
• #60614
EDIT: Ignore this. I'm totally wrong.
That P1800 is well nice. Estate versions are my fave.
-
• #60615
Really? Damn... I did not pay attention.

P1800, only £42k https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1185594
Could've had this instead of the V60
-

Thankfully, the backs of the seats are black plastic so no difference from most cars.
The white seats are allegedly not too bad to maintain with kids but time will tell.

I'm hoping electrification of classics becomes more affordable. Would love an electric classic.

should have

A good point. Is nothing planned to be designed for the European market? Or is their formless design part of the branding as some sort of anti-styling?
-
• #60621
Yeah I suppose they will. The ideal would be to have both
-
• #60622
No need to design anything for the European market or any market other than the US as far as Tesla are concerned.
The moment they go into market specific variants they lose the engineering/manufacturing efficiency their stock price thrives on. They are like early Ford with only a small number of models. Once they start to circle the blackhole of the seemingly endless variants offered by the likes of Mercedes, they are stuffed.

Ah, 0-60 is identical and I've got ~50 miles of range on you. Yours is definitely much more of the future than mine, although with that said mine parked itself tonight.

This works as long as they retain their market USPs. Will be interesting to see direction when (if) other manufacturers catch up.

Design is function on an electric car. Drag coefficient is more important than having a few shit vents or some gaping grill.
It’s part of the reason legacy manufacturers are struggling to catch up. Even with similar kw battery packs, their drivetrain efficiency, battery density (and overall weight) and drag coefficients are nowhere near Tesla. This is because they’re still stuck designing ICE cars.
We have a Renault Zoe as well and with a much smaller motor and two wheel drive, it’s about 25% less efficient per kw/h.
I’ll take range and efficiency any day.
Think this is overdue a M4 run to Wales
