Which engine?
I had an S90, loved it... but it is a big car. I loved it... especially for long motorway journeys.
But around London with occasional motorways I thought my Mini Cooper to be the far better car... easier to park, manoeuvre, and in many ways fitted city and few motorways far better than the S90. Your other half may be correct you know.

Looks like the Mazda 6 can suffer from subframe corrosion too.
My 2007 6 SL has just been written off despite passing its MOT in March.
I liked that car so a little sad.

fair points, a mini would be far more practical but not sure its a huge problem either, the cheaper ones tend to be the D5

Why would anyone, ever, prefer the saloon to the estate, if you are not an Uber driver?
Saloon cars these days should have the TFL licence thing fitted at the factory.

With this E class saloon I feel like an Uber driver.

Sometimes the saloon models are cheaper, and if you don't need the extra space, why pay the extra cash?

o/h said we’re too young for an estate

That's an old fashioned view.

I sold a 328 2001 i believe same bodyworks anyways.
Think i got like 2000 gbp for it but this was in sweden and was 3 years ago. Had something like close to 20k km on it. Was otherwise in okay condition. To me that car in yr link sounds expensive but cant say im in tune with current uk or swedish market for these tho.

Any e46 owners know what this button does?

Comment was a bit jokey, but many new models which are built with a saloon [or 'liftback'] body shape are not available to the UK market as they are not commercially viable. That's been the case for a few years now.

yeah, looking new both the S60 and 90 only come in ‘pretty damn expensive’ spec atm

I've seriously been thinking about getting a saloon so my wife can't put the dogs in it

Not enough. I bought the estate version. Sorry, 'Sportwagon'. But in blue with gold wheels, obviously, because Subaru.

Because you look like you should stop in suburbia to have a nap, piss into an empty Evian bottle, then answer your Uber alert to run someone up to Heathrow, pausing only to pop the door and plonk the Evian bottle on the curb.
Saloons are four wheeled expressions of despair.
Estates on the other hand are for winners.

If they used the same panel for all e46's it could be a button used on higher spec cars to auto fold the mirrors in. Just a guess though.

Aye, I guess mine is too shit to have foldies 🤣

That was my first thought - blank switch. Also another thing to break ;)

Testing two nearly-new Leons tomorrow, one lukewarm hatchback, one slightly warmer sport wagon. Mrs Hammer doesn’t want another estate but I’m hoping the power convinces her. Spec, age and price are pretty similar...

I had an Astra estate when I was 18. Bloody loved it.
Good for filling with mates and their stuff for festivals and camping trips. Also great for sleeping / shagging in.

Practical is the new black...
You can get a 2018 Volvo S90 for ~£20k - Why shouldn’t I?
I wanted a V60 but o/h doesn’t want an estate, unless its a Mini Clubman, but wants a Mini ideally, but I might win over on an S90, seeing as S60 is outrageously expensive here.
