  • i think you know the answer to that already dude

  • Ok. Volvo it is then.

  • This had occurred to me- being able to make a cup of tea and have some cake whilst taking a break at the trail centre is very handy.

  • Plenty of boating out at sea, using the time-honoured method of hanging my arse over the side, literally a drop in the ocean.

    Caravans, see filed under campers!

  • i could tell that first pick was WA before i saw the plates/sticker.

  • Yes dearie?

  • No. Luring. 😎

  • Campers are like tents for people who can buy their way out of the shitness of tents.

Also you can put a tent in them and deploy it later, should you hate yourself.

  • I still don't get

Like any lifestyle product, ownership makes the consumer feel good by being able to purchase an alternative version of the grim reality of their daily life.

You could just as well say why buy a cheeky little roadster when you'll never be able to drop the roof either because of the weather or because of the diesel fumes rolling in over your door while you sit at lights or crawl on 40mph variable speed limit.

Mainly tho the benefit is being able to sit in a vehicle with a cup of tea sheltered from the inevitable rain and clouds before you head off to sit in a traffic jam in the same vehicle.

If you think about it, it's probably the most spirituality British mode of transport ever.

  • Did LoLsnort.

  • Like any lifestyle product, ownership makes the consumer feel good by being able to purchase an alternative version of the grim reality of their daily life.

I get that. I'm just not sure why anyone would go for an alternate which is even grimmer than their everyday life!

  • Looking into whether insurance covers it, but if I need to sort it out, any recommendations for windshield repair?

  • Mainly tho the benefit is being able to make instant friends at the campsite who share your conspicuous consumption and barely masked contempt for and loathing of tents

  • Your hatred of camping is very intense.

  • Why not have both? FIL’s Caravelle with awning was great for camping in the New Forest this weekend. Although one of the inflatable pole sections clearly needs replacing. I didn’t get to sleep in it though, sadly.

  • I’m only kidding. I like camping. On the .5 days of the year where the conditions are charitable.

  • No one is asking the important question. Howard, please tell me about the clearly disastrous camping trip when you were a child that has lead you to this lifelong burning hatred.

  • What baffles me is a lot of caravan owners go to the very same campsite every single year and could actually afford a hotel or a holiday rental.

  • Luring the prawns....

  • Ah you can just make out the floating portaloo....

  • Character building.

  • Ok, on a little boat. The bigger boats have black water tanks...

What about having a boat on the inland water ways or Marinas?
