Enjoyed this earlier today - a snapshot of 1993 company car culture. Very Golf Club.

993 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 manufactured between 1994-98, and the Turbo S represents the ultimate non-RS product, producing 450bhp and with a raft of other upgrades. Obscure baseball player Michael Jordan owned a red one.

And was something of a bitsa- had the rear suspension designed for the still born saloon (an idea which became the Panamera), and the interior which they designed for it they couldn’t afford to produce (it went into the 996) so they lightly upgraded the 964 interior (with which it shared the majority of its bodyshell). Singer use 964 body shells with 993 engines running GT3 cranks and a GT3-RS plenum. A fun thing about Porsche is how you can mix and match stuff across different models (and often certain Volkswagens).

MOT question.
Last test I got this advisory and a fail on some other things:
Repair immediately (major defects):
Offside Rear Position lamp showing white light to the rear (4.2.3 (a) (ii))The garage fixed this by putting some red electrical tape over a small hole in the light and then duly passed it on the retest. His parting words were "it will need sorting eventually". I have kept an eye on breaking parts since, but the light cluster is still north of £100.
I'm booked into the same garage for the new MOT. Given that they fixed it last time and the fix has held up, am I safe to assume that it won't come up again?

That's a beautiful racecar

I count four different shades of yellow there, is the owner colourblind?

Le Mans cars always look good - as with aircraft, the demands of aerodynamics mostly seem to enforce aesthetics. Obviously if you have to ask, you're not in the market, but what does £POA mean here - £hundreds of thousands, millions, tens of millions?

I wonder at what moment the owner, having plastered it in S3 stickers, decided "fuck it, it's so good, it's an RS3" and added a few of those as well.
And it has a tape deck. With Dolby. Sold!

The hype on the C9 now will push that to 100 million me thinks.
They have released it at just the right time.

This is a wonderful reminder to temper ones enthusiasm for vehicle modifications to tasteful levels...
I do still want a Jordan EK9 though...
In other news I've just ordered an Ultra Gauge EM Plus (as recommended by @NurseHolliday ) OBDII scanner for my R53. I've also ordered a twin instrument cluster as came on cars fitted with satnav or the chrono pack option.
My plan is to remove the internals from the new speedo and mount the Ultra Gauge in the enclosure with a new face fitted to suit for a tidy install. I dont really know what I'm doing but hopefully it'll work...

In that case, millions I'd imagine. The chassis has no race history which will devalue it, but it's still going to be worth an absolute fortune, particularly with the nostalgia surrounding GrpC racing.
I'd still rather have an XJR9 though. 7 litre V12. Rumbly.

More than a 250 GTO? I doubt it. They been up for sale in the past and have gone for 1-2 million.

Maybe as no race history, but McLaren F1 go for 20 odd now...
-

Only the F1 LM though. Which is the one I'd want, so it's obviously very desirable.

I have to admit to having watched a lot of interviews with Gordon Murray recently on his new car, and I do want one. I lack the kind of drive* required to make the money needed to buy one, but £2.8M is conspicuously good value against a McLaren F1.
*And accompanying personality disorder, but I imagine some might disagree with that.

I disagree with Murray's view on the F1 spine width nightmares. <<<<<<<<< Personality disorder
Would be too thin as he would have liked it.

I'm still in two minds about the fan. It's very clever, and if it works as well as he says it does then it'll be undeniably effective. However, I can't help but feel that it detracts from the simplicity and elegance of the design though. And I do wonder what would happen if it suddenly stops working, which is hardly beyond the bounds of possibility.
