Given all the work that would have gone into that bonnet, it's a shame they didn't blend in, and repaint the scoop and vents.
I remember seen a couple of max power scoobys back in the day that had the scoops blended in, and it always looked so much cleaner.

I had the same year and model but a different colour scheme - white body with blue vinyl on the roof and interior. Looked exactly like this
Bought it in '92 with only 72k on the clock, 229 Chevy V6 (3.8L) and it was super clean. Both top end seals were gone as were the rear main seal. It made more financial sense to just pull the engine and get it rebuilt rather than just do the seals. IIRC it was $1700 for the complete engine and carb rebuild vs. $1000 to just get the seals done. Transmission died shortly after so got that rebuilt as well. It was awesome. I loved that thing.
I think I only put about 30k on that whole drive train before a drunk driver ran a stop sign at about 40mph and smashed up my front end and bent the frame beyond repair. The whole thing was written off. That was replaced by the Custom Deluxe pickup truck I mentioned up thread.

so much fucking yes dude. this is brilliant. bit gutting the drunk drive thing but then you ended up with the pick up.
just feel bad that you have now ended up with a Beetle. though totally get why it makes more sense than a monster like this

good luck dude!

Oh I'd love another long nose 2 seater - I did a driving day near Silverstone years ago and got to drive a number of cars very quickly. The one I excelled in was the the Jag XK.
Fair warning, any lottery win will make me a full on Skyline GTR wanker.
But the Beetle has been Race Chip upgraded. It is now a very poky 2L
One of these....

Talking of flash wheels I got tyres fitted today, freshly blasted and powder coated.
New rims would have been cheaper/better but I wanted to keep the originals with their made in Belgium stamping, only made in France are available new.

Bélaye
Nice! I’ve headed that way plenty of times.
My parents are just the other side of Cahors in Saint Martin de Vers.
Looking forward to a trip down there in October (assuming we’re allowed...)
