  • I'd probably need to let it sit for while. For the price i would pay for it, it is worth is as a little savings account while i finish the b and learn to be a racing driver.

    that's the theory, anyway.

  • Am jealous would really like to have one.

Better than any savings account. Actually fuck it inheritance. Not wishing anything but a long life.

  • Sound more than clueless more like a rip off.

Is it a variable vain turbo? Does the turbo have an oil line oil filter/mesh?

I think the car is ok, with a bit of fucking around so keep using it till it dies.

  • Apparently there are a few 3 series tourings around over here afterall....looking at a 2011/12 over the weekend. Better the devil you know perhaps?

  • Standard waste gate, no vanes or in line filter.

Seem to be a lot of folk with this diesel engine getting told they turbo's cooked when actually just gunked up with soot or faulty sensors with garages telling them to replace whole turbo, replace ECU, replace DPF and all sorts of expensive and outlandish cures.

Just seems like an overly complex and ineffective way of trying to make diesel engines seem 'clean' and some owners being sneaky by blanking off the ERG and remapping to get around it.

  • Has @hugo7 sorted the phantom noise?

    Yes!

(Been away for a few days.)

A rummage under the axel beam (?) produced this.

  • That should be attached to your car.

  • There is usually a mesh filter in the oil line to the turbo. The 1.6 ford/psa hdi has issues with bits getting in to the oil and blocking the feed to the turbo.

DPF can be cleaned out, but then the time to clean out the dpf can be the same as a replacement.

On the oe software you can force the vehicle in to DPF regen. That means the car doing odd stuff while stopped so the fear is something going wrong.

  • Post is useless without pictures.

Also a 2ZZ-GE should have 189hp unless there's something wrong with it (not 180)...

  • You can raise or lower the roof of my car with the bipper - however it’s stopped like this the last few times, which is annoying.

If you then use the button in the cabin it continues until fully stowed.

  • Coming soon to the golf club bar thread......

  • As long as they can suggest what’s gone wrong then I’m am happy with that.

  • Random thought, low battery on blipper. Our Audi A4 behaved weirdly with a low battery in the key . Wouldn't open tailgate or shut windows with a long press. Would lock and unlock fine though.

  • Someone's nicked your bidon

  • Addled brain and poor key pressing.

Still wanted to find an EU Corolla compressor 220 odd bhp, 20 less than the lotus...

  • It is too hot to be scraping under seal off this weekend

  • Nice D-cell maglite, so handy so reachable to batter burglers, i see you have the anti roll head cover too :)

  • Viewed this DS a few weeks ago but walked away due to lhm leaks, electrical problems and glad I did.
It’s now back for sale for £10k more than it was on the market for but had around £6k spent on it - new steering rack, lots of wiring work etc etc. I’d have been in tears with a bill like that straight after buying it!
Saving for a nicer, sorted one

  • I put that maglite there in 2005 and have never used it.

  • Definitely took that photo from the wrong side...

  • You wait until I move over to Ireland, bastard...

  • Mostly used mine while lorry driving as a small mag lite was less frowned on over using a tyre iron to dissuade nocturnal visitors.

Discovered you can get LED bulbs for about £10 that jumped from krypton 28 lumens to 210l and a massive increase in battery run time. use it loads now as it's a practical torch :)

  • It’s odd you mention that as I was thinking about doing an LED conversion and actually getting some use from it.

I have another (anodised red) one somewhere too

  • Went looking for the info.

I used this company. No faffing just a direct bulb swap and job done, still got the old krypton bulb in the end cap just in case. Just match the bulb to Cell size and number of cells of torch (mines 2x D cell)
    http://thetorchsite.co.uk/D_cell_LED_Upgrades.html

From checking the specs, mines a few years old now and was 210L the newest bulb is at 300L and a 10 hour run time so might actually get a new one and keep the 210 as the spare :)
