I would need to make it V8 powered
Your merc would make a great engine donor...

I’m all for big v8s in anything they’ll fit in, but I’d feel it was my duty to step in and give you a little slap if you tried to butcher that lovely ovlov. Not a big slap, just a little one to let you know you were out of line.

It's a Chevy small-block painted red with Volvo heads tbh, but it's been in their line-up for years, so there's some justification.
It'd be a ton of work and probably make a worse car, that said.

Super cool the 230TE. It was advertised for $8000 for a while. Wish I had the funds and a garage. Must buy flat first.

Today I discovered using the search term "project" in cars > classic cars on eBay.
More timewasting than a wiki-k-hole. But much more enjoyable.

Honestly before cell phone time and so no pics... But the three I was think from that era were:
1973 BMW 2002
1977 Volvo 242
1969 Mercedes 240 (as a manual no less!!)Owned a few others and currently in a GTI
Shopping for a new car now and here's the list:
Audi RS3
Audi s3
VW golf R
BMW m240i
BMW M2Not really considering focus RS. Too blatant for my age. And that whole drift mode thing really annoys me.
Maybe a Subaru STI but I think I'm a little old for that too. I do like them though.

Following and watching this thread makes we want a car despite having no use for one - which means if I get one I might aswell get a "stupid" one! Porsche Boxter's can be had for ~£5K!?

Ok, I know you all hate them, but what about these (image for fit/position assessment):
But in the RSR finish:

Still being made by land rover
Nope. Production stopped 2016. @hugo7 this is the new one:
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/defender/104826/new-2020-land-rover-defender-pictures#3If you had seen the new one it would have been wrapped in a similar pattern. I've seen new Land/Range Rovers in the car park at Leamington Spa station before.
And the odd Velar up Burton Dassett...

Not sure if you're looking for a new car or going used but unfortunately you'll struggle to get a new STi now as they longer do them in the UK.

Yes sub 5k. too.
It is what can go wrong with them, and the cost to repair.
-
• #47249
Solihul stopped making them, thought that they are still being made in Malaysia.

Not being made anywhere now as far as I know. There are development versions of both long and short wheelbase versions of the new Defender currently being tested in and around Gaydon, and further afield, not sure when it is due out.
^Nice shot of Burton Dassett, that is a Range Rover sport.
245 is fantastic.
