  • There is currently 5 on eBay and a sixth is about to be relisted “Only” a 1.6 twin spark but with only 47,000 miles and has a huge amount of money spent . Windows out respray at a cost of £3k ( although it didn’t need it)
Probably the best of the last 145 about. If I hadn’t bought the GTV I would have bought it myself. Or should say bought it back as I was the second owner when it was 10 years old and it had done 34,500 miles .

  • fuck yeah to this. my brother had one of these and always regretted letting go of it. and love the fact you were just out there joy riding it.

    great work dude

  • I've had a 197 a 200 cup and now 2 ph1 172, i love them to bits the 200 cup was the best to live with daily but i really enjoy the rawness of the ph1's they just feel quicker, no traction control, throttle cable etc, around town i can get around 30mpg and on a steady run at 70 around 43mpg and parts apart from the cambelt job are cheap and plentiful and easy to work on, running costs on the 197's and 200's are alot higher and the suspension is more complicated to work on, if you need more info just let me now.

  • Ok thanks both. You certainly haven’t got me scratching it off the list of options.

  • Some interesting old no bullshit car reviews from ABC are being uploaded. Plenty to watch if you're interested:

  • My school PE teacher had a Alfa 146 (the saloon one) with a cloverleaf on it, he was a right prick so it was probably a genuine quicker one. Looked angular and interesting even compared to other cars back then (1998/2000).
EDit, it was a Ti, and they are worth moderate money now, damn too late lol.

Saw a MINT 145 with a 2.0 in it and all the little bits pillaged from other models in the alfa/fiat group to make it as nice as poss in a scrap yard with a mondeo sat on top of it. Could not find a reason it was in there, presume didn't have valid VED on it or stolen in some way and they never paid the fine. Was the right type of red too

This year intend to find a good Fiat Coupe 20vT+, pref in that scotts green colour again (although collectors will like the broom yellow/portofino blue in the future), but have to get the volvo c70 coupe finished and probably sold, just don't use it, proper comfy cruiser but doesn't do handling or fast (195hp 2.5lpT with a 4 speed auto from the 90s), sound system is sublime though.

  • Problem with fiat coupes are they've usually been modified to within an inch of there lives or ragged the fuck out of.
I came really close to buying one new in 1998, but bought my first 145 cloverleaf instead.
But the fiat is an amazing looking car and effing quick as well.

  • Can't disagree there, when I had mine ages ago I prob looked at ten before buying one. Mine was perfect tbh, nothing broke just spent time tidying it from usual wear and using it. Doubt I'll have that luck again

  • I've got my dad looking for one. He'd be the one getting it for me and keeping it until I figured out what I was going to do with it so I've got more chance of getting one if it's a bit closer to the north-east. Shame it's not later in the year, I could have got him to have a look at the Black one on eBay whilst he was at Goodwood for Revival.

  • Problem with fiat coupes are they've usually been modified to within an inch of there lives or ragged the fuck out of.

A former colleague who's now a judge used to have one. He blew up 2 engines in 3 years and he was not a fast or vigorous driver.

  • Similarly would rather like a Fiat Barchetta.

  • Red though. A brilliant red one. From a better, vanished time.

  • I think I’ve mentioned it before but I had two friends that bought them new and neither lasted a year. My mate Joel’s was the yellow one - cracking looking car and I do remember it being quick.

  • Thoughts on Polestar 2?

  • I've got all the way through to the credit card info for a pre-order... hmmm

Might chat with the wife first.

  • Is it just me or is the profile a bit similar to the last Saab 9-5?

  • Wanted a new Polestar V60. I am disappoint. Been enjoying this feed: https://www.instagram.com/v90polestar/

  • The C pillar and roofline are slightly similar but that's it. It looks much more like a squashed XC40 imo...

  • My next company car, due in Jan-2020 will be fully electric. I need\want a range of around 300 miles. Polestar would be perfect, but just not going to be here soon enough to me. looks like I am stuck between the Jag ipace, Kia niro or hyundai kona... think I know which one I will be going for...

  • That's a nice car ruined.

Polestar 2 does look great, but the interior isn't quite as nice as I would've expected.

  • Should be collecting the 159 next Wednesday. Wish me luck.

Here's a picture of a particularly nice, impractically low one in the meantime...

  • Polestar should have been an estate.

  • Slightly OT but I can't find a more applicable thread, and where do I go to ask the big questions but lufgus...

    • Has anyone had experience retro-fitting roof rails to a Golf or similar?
    • Alternatively, can anyone convince me that spending £4k on a Volvo estate with 50% more mileage would still be better than £4k on a Polo/Golf/Golf Plus?

PS anyone fancy a project Audi Cab FE 2.8 V6?
