  • Tricky one as whatever you do to secure it can be cut through, and people are very used to grinder noise from that area. I imagine they'd have to trailer a race car away as it'd have no plates etc?

  • no - it has plates. no engine yet, of course, but it will in all likelihood be trailed away if nicked.

  • Anyone in this thread have real world experience of the Legnum VR4? Got a chance at one
    and I'm seriously tempted at least to go and view it.

  • offered 1,500 bananas

    Incredible!

  • My old man is about to buy a 2015 passat tdi with the 6 speed DSG box. Only 35000km on the clock, so that's good, but the dsg box worries me. I've read heaps about it being a ticking bomb, but also a fair amount about it being perfectly fine.

    Anyone got any wisdom to share?

  • When we do the sums, using man maths, of course, the new shell actually doesn't feel that bad.

  • Yes! Result!

  • the hard top is at 100 and I got 160 for the rotisserie

  • I'm off to demon tweaks

  • Eh-hem.

    Can you fit one of these in an MG?

  • I have had a letter from Avis, charging me 43 Euro, telling me that the Italian authorities are going to charge me an unspecified amount for an unspecified traffic offence. The authorities will be in touch to do the specifying. So - who knows, I'm guessing I went through a speed camera, but spent most of the holiday cruising around at or below the speed limit.

    Also, it was from November last year, so this was something of a surprise.

  • I'm probably still wanted for something in the Commune of Perledo - seems the Italians are hell for ticketing rental cars for things after the fact. I ignored it.

  • It is a tourist tax, the wops getting their own back on all the parking, speeding and general disregard for traffic law by using UK plates in Italy and Italian/EU plates here that I did/do.

  • can you seriously stop calling people 'wops'? it makes you look / sound like a bigoted shitwipe.

  • I once got a fine on the Milan underground for reusing an old ticket stub back in the day.

    Had to go to head office n everfing.

    Pleaded British Student abroad idiocy and got let off innit.

  • Why would you bother? If you'd doing a V8 transplant, you might as well fit one of these. Mo gruntiness with extra 'charger whine for good measure.

  • Can't argue with that.

    @BRM - get to it.

  • Bonnet clearance?

  • @IR no firsthand experience but do have a bit of a soft spot for them. Keep us updated.

  • Learn the use of the language and the person using it before you make a comment.

    @Nahguavkire same for you.

    EDIT - Every day is a school day - “WOP” is the English pronunciation of the Ital-Neapolitan word “GUAPPO”. The word defines those who belong to the Guapperia o “Camorra”, a criminal organization similar to the Sicilian Mafia located mostly in the province of Campania (an Italian Province) and its capital Napoli, Italia. The term is still commonly used especially in Central-South Italy (Meridione) to describe those that either belong to the organization or those that are arrogant to the point of inducing a fight. It was brought to the USA by early Italian immigrants from the province of Campania who named those suspected to belonging to the Guapperia “Guappi”, in a similar fashion the Sicilians used the term “Mafiosi”. Widely used in Chicago where most immigrants from Campania settled, one of its native sons Al Capone was a typical Guappo, it was confused by the non Italian population to indicate people of Italian origins, similarly the word “Paesano”. The term has been erroneously explained to mean “Without Papers” because of the initials “WP” by those, Italian descent or not, that have little knowledge of Italian history and dialects. The term has taken a derogatory meaning in North America and for many refers to people of Italian origin or background.

  • Failed to fit this IC tonight, need a longer 90 degree hose onto the turbo and the bracket for the drivers side is around 30mm too short.

    Bracket I bought from Subaru thinking it would allow me to mount it shown beside it...... I have no idea where it fits on the newer cars but I can't see anywhere on my car that it could go.

  • Bit of progress on the brat project. Replaced the bent/ rotten cross member with a bit of 40x60x2mm box. It's a bit agricultural, but I'd rather slightly overbuild , in case if another front-end. Not really adding any weight, and the whole car is really nice and straight again. The photo is of a dry-fit this morning. All welded in now, with plates and guests. Will take more photos of progress . Most of the chassis work is done: I had a welder friend come and do some of the more critical, structural work on a rotten axle hanger today. The rest of it I've done myself. Wheels are currently away being blasted and powder coated white, and I've ordered a new set of Goodyear tyres for when they're done. From bumper design is pretty much finalised all going to be epoxy fibreglass, and delta integrale inspired.
