Thanks. I'm just over the moon about the 6, yes 6! disc CD changer.
Going to go out and buy some CDs later.Who needs spotify, when you can have 6 CDs at one time.

Wow. Welcome to 1999, we've been waiting for you...

My van had a tape player! I'm getting to the 21st century, slowly.
That's the issue with older cars these days, tech has moved so fast recently, even a few years and it's so obsolete.

Yup. I'm looking forward to 2020 when all the cars from the last 2 or so years will be dirt cheap with all the fancy shit on them.

I've got The Fear.
C55:
A possible future:
The car is a 2007, and apparently they're galvanised post 2004, so I think what we're looking at in the arches is a previous poor repair with the rust coming through from behind the paint.

Bluetooth/wired FM transmitters actually work well if you want the low cost option
-
• #41308
It’s got aux input, so for now I’ll put Bluetooth reciever in that.
But for now I’ll settle for using my shure headphones. Cheap and way better audio quality. Not going to throw £1000 at a proper install. Not worth it. -

On a 10k car I’d be getting that sorted properly. For peace of mind/resale.

The seller has agree to discount the price by the quote I got from the bodyshop that is just finishing up with the 911.
Concern is that they only had my photographs to go on - and I couldn't start taking the trim and wheel arch liners off on the guys drive.
However - this just came up on the HPI:

I love listening to CDs in the car. The sound quality is a lot better than the aux/bluetooth/Spotify alternative. I’ve also been enjoying the ritual of picking a band and then going into second hand shops to hunt out back catalogues...

my 2001 merc was like that - I had both front wheel arches done - firstly before pickup by the merc dealer which was a poor job, and then 1.5 years later by an independent before I sold it as the bubbles had returned. he suggested to get rid of it and get a much later merc if I like that sort of thing.

speaking of my old merc - I looked up its reg on the web and it led me to this page
which does not exist anymore - anyway I can get a CACHED version of it ?- my google skills are not proving fruitful...

That does sound fun, however the stock speakers are made of cardboard and amplified from well nothing. So even if cds sounds good, the stock audio sound is terrible.

So a couple weeks ago, my dad managed to scratch their BMW X1 4wd due to trying to go down a snow covered drive that's 25% steep on summer run-flat tyres (!!).
I have a look around, and the Michelin Easy Grip seemed to be the best solution and alternative to carry chains for the occasional snow and the law requirement in the Pyrenees to carry them;
Anyone have suggestion? I checked the Spike Spider and they're ridiculously expensive considering he need them on all 4 wheels!

Hey, we do the Walk of Life!
I much prefer CDs, for the same reasons I prefer them in the house, sound quality, they always work, artwork etc etc. -
• #41317
problem I find with the 6 disc cd changer - you have this illusion that its hundreds of hours of music when in fact your sick of them after 2 long journeys but always forget to change them (mines in the boot) - so instead of having stacks of cd's in your screen visor, you have none and end up listening to HEART FM --- which used to be good 10 years ago when it just played 80's/90's cheese ALL THE TIME but now ventures into "modern" music (J Lo onwards for me) ...

So finance is against that obnoxious plate that was on the car 6+ years ago. If that's the case wouldn't worry. It's just cross referencing against historical vehicles I guess

Just received a dvla threat of a fine for a vehicle that is very clearly parked on private land and hasn't moved in about a year. Vehicle not clamped or ticketed because it's obviously on private land
Best way to fix this? Letter says it was "seen" on a street that's 200m away. So I reckon it's an automated system that has seen the registration across the junction and road down to where it is parked and thought "yes, got one, issue a ticket". But the folk in the van have thought better of it. They clamped about 6 1-3 year old cars in the same Street so we're defo out on a busy day

You should be able to appeal I would have thought - phone them or write to them.
I had a similar issue although with the borough council who issued the letter. They had an online system to appeal and they sent me a letter saying after I appealed there’d be no fine or further issue

Lose the plastic jewel covers, stick the naked discs in a soft wallet in the glove compartment, have 30–40 to choose from in the Lexus. Sound great on the Mark Levison sound system.

Motorhub!

• #41325
As dammit says, motorhub! Read up on them.
Aside that a very high % of their cars are infested with scrap yard fungus and mould, they like selling ex private hires that are in shocking condition with descriptions like "stunning one owner example"
Nice! Congrats
