No, I shall make him understand till I hit my head against a wall till he feels it.
If you show me where the column is earthed then I'll thank you for it, at the moment though I don't think you understand what you are talking about.

PM me you number and I can call you. Or I can PM you my number and you can block your number and we can see how to resolve this.

If you're talking about the E60, it's not my favourite but it's better than boring silver.
Carbon Black or Azurite are the best imo

You know you're being just as boring, right?

You've posted a bunch of links, just indicate in which post/picture/part of the guide shows how the column is grounded. Should be easy, if that data is present.

Black and dark grey seem to be the most popular colours for M5 Touring, the Silverstone Blue one is unusual - I'd prefer a more striking blue, but not seen one for sale.

Yes and I apologise.

Standard black and grey are dull.
Carbon Black is actually very dark blue:

My favourite colour on that age of BMW. I went to view an M3 in that colour intending to buy it. I think it contrasts really well with the crabonz roof and other black details.
But then drove it and remembered I don't like the steering.

MX-5 guys, how solid should the interior be? Tried a seemingly well-sorted (sills/front beams done, new hood, etc) mk2 yesterday and was surprised at how much noise there was in the cabin with various bits rattling. Brakes seemed quite soft too.
I suppose the correct answer is to try a few more out so I’m not comparing to a 5-series with a proper roof! -

People have wildly different tolerance levels for noises - I cannot stand any, and hunt down any rattle or squeak, but people not as obsessive as I am ignore an orchestra of trim noise.

As lynx say's it should work with those parts, but you say that your column is not grounded?
With a multi meter set to continuity apply one connection to the column and find a piece of metal attached to the upper column that remains stationary that is connected, preferably less than 1 ohm.
If you can locate that you can run a wire from that to earth and complete your circuit.
"The difficult we do at once, the impossible takes just a little bit longer" ;)

On that diagram the brown earth return from the horn contact goes through the airbag slip ring if you look at the little tag wire off of it there is a box with a number in it (I cant read it too pixelated but looks like M110) that probably refers to another diagram for non airbag type or an image of an earth location
Edit just found this image, some Porsches have a link wire from rack to subframe where they have rubber mounted racks, worth a look, just run a jump lead from the rack to earth and see if you get what you need.

My Mk1 interior (with 100k on the clock) is pretty solid, but there is the odd rattle and noise - not quite an orchestra though! I'd say the main noises comes from the road itself/suspension as opposed to fear of being K.O'd by interior trim.
If a hardtop is fitted squeaks from behind the driver/passenger are normal due to the roof slightly sliding on the rear mounts.

Turn radio up.

I think it was mainly the mirror but it does sound like I just need to recalibrate.
Loved how eager it was on the throttle though! -
• #38944
That'll be a 924/44/68 tho. What with the engine being at the front and that.
-
• #38945
Yes but the principle of the circuit is the same :D

Great time of year to be looking too, wish I had done that and saved myself a few quid. Was it a 1.6? If not they're supposed to be even more free revving but slightly less torque.
-
• #38947
I'll try one if there's one local but I think the extra torque will suit Mrs Hammer as she's quite lazy with the gearbox. It was a 1.8 1999 mk2 SE trim. Like this:

All the leather and wood - fancy! Not sure if torque works like this but mine unsurprisingly feels like it could do with a longer gear when travelling 80mph+ and imagine the 1.6 might be worse.

An email from Gert (who runs the shop from which I bought the wheel) arrived today.
An email from Gert arrived today, apparently a small hole needs to be drilled in the black metal part of the steering column (pointing finger) and an earth wire then attached to a screw through said hole.

Being transparent I am unclear how this section of the column connects to the inner, rotating part of the column, possibly magical unicorns are involved.
I've forwarded the email to Precision so they can verify the level of mono-horned, mythical quadruped involved.

Carnewal? Gert’s a dude.
