Try pure concentrated, it sure gets clean!
Or dilute it less than the recommendation. I love getting a clean windscreen, OCD love at the push of a button

You've not tried Danish National Rail, obviously. Lugging bikes, girlfriends, sons and sisters around the country is quite a bit more convenient and cheap, even in a shit car, than having to deal with the other option. Could've spent more money/time and gotten something less shit, but this works and gives me something cheap to tinker with. If it breaks completely I can just scrap it and walk away with £300

Looks hideous! Excellent choice.

New fluid can quieten a noisy pump ;) check that there isn't any play at the pulley end.
Can you get gasket paper? Have made gaskets for oil areas from cereal packets soaked in oil. But not sure that would work on a water pump. Have used a thin bead of rtv silicone, from a medical syringe, on a cereal packet as an emergency gasket that lasted till I sold the car.
Sure it is a gasket not an o ring?

Go to an automotive place and pick one that you like.

I found a purple anodised amp and some green cathode lights in the garage. Might make me feel 15 years younger...

Haven't checked, but from what I've found online, it's paper. Have both gasket paper and liquid gasket in the garage, so will sort something out. Will check all bearings, when I pull the old belts off.
Changing the fluid sounds like it's worth trying, thanks -

White vinegar or meths or IPA/rubbing alcohol added to the water can help.
I just clean the screen with meths and wash the wipers too. But have shit wipers that were replaced and are crap. Also drop a little lube on the wiper pins so the wipers have free movement to apply pressure to the wiper on the screen.

That stuff is more for cleaning the vehicle than in the washer bottle.

Agreed,
but the local conditions dj described sounded like normal screenwash was not sufficient. -

Because my cars frequently go weeks without being driven.
In these days of alarms and trackers, batteries in stationary cars still have a lot of load on them. -

If I buy a car from a dealer (something which I have never done) is there a period during which I can return the car if, for example, I find that it has undisclosed at time of sale issues?

Ah lead acid not so good for that, wonder if a large lithium in battery would be better?
In these days cars have bigger batteries or even secondary batteries.

Question: Have you yet got tired of the excitement of owning your Aston?
I reckon I could get a decent 4.7 Vantage for the price of my old 911 now and I wonder whether it might be time to swap steering feel and engineering for beauty.
I borrowed one a while back and couldn’t stop looking at it out of the window but I worry that would subside and I’d get fed up of the drive being a bit wooden.
Every time I’ve strayed from 911s in the past I’ve soon returned.

Who knows anything about batteries?
Euro Car Parts gives me a choice of models, one of them being the Bosch S5 100 - is this a decent choice for the 911 or should I look at a different model?

Fit biggest battery that will fit in to the space.
By biggest I mean large amh rating and the cca.
-
• #38595
Fit this one as it has 50,000 starts in it compared to 20,000 in a normal battery

Fit a Porsche one. Only about £10 more usually.
If you want the battery to last longer leave the car unlocked, but typically 3 weeks is about as much as you'll get.
Lots of folk fit a simple switch on the -ve that they flick if they're parking up for a while.
Or you could go retro: https://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/battery-isolators-master-switches/bosch-battery-cut-off-switch-historic-porsche-type

Any different from a 'normal' battery?
What size is the battery bay?
-
• #38598
Says PORSCHE on it in big letters.
This wins you 80 anorak points at Porsche meetings.

Is there a space for a switch?

Ah, Can you buy the sticker ;) Do Moll still make the porka batteries?
A 25L drum of 'TFR' traffic film remover might be your Winter solution.
Rather caustic, so mind your fingers when refilling.
Autosmart used to be good, but they sold local franchises so the 'retail' prices went up.
Is there a haulage company based on a local trading estate? Their Maintenance Manager might be a good source of info.
