Looks like an impression of an 8 series.

I jist dug out a 1985 issue of autocar i think? has a 740 turbo wagon on the front and somewhere inside the famous (lol) horsebox vs lamborgini countach "the basic idea of the 740 turbo" advert

The whole "lardy upper middle class 80s wagon+ turbo + coilover+ rims" is a bit of an anti performance scene. Kind of the point that they are not sporty, or infact that "good" as far as most concerned, but thankfully still a little bit away from the "new age fun with a vintage feel brigade"

I recently failed to jump my VW golf battery from another perfectly healthy car. It was because my cars battery was completely dead (like, four days to charge it up, dead). Could be that?
-
• #38506
Could it be an alarm/immobilizer thang?
-
• #38507
I think it's that the battery is utterly flat. Shame as the charger is at the very back of the garage. Bugger
-
• #38508
Leave it connected to the Volvo with the Volvo running at a fast idle for 10 minutes or so to get a bit of power across.
Or just plug the charger into the electric point in your garage. Oh no wait... sorry.

Sick burn dude.

Wait until you see how I addressed your parcel. It’s fucking gold.

Jeff's Youtube channel is definitely worth a subscribe if you're interested in restoration projects, heres a 4 minute clip of his progress so far on his 911.

'Hello, Mr. Parcel'?
-
• #38513
Have you got a multimeter to check the battery?
-
• #38514
I've been following Jeff's channel - I think he's done a great job on it - especially given it's all been done himself and on a budget (apart from the engine - that looks pricey as hell).
The interior though... Not so keen.

+1
Not keen on the whole Mrs Jeff thing either.
Did get a bit bored after a while, so I should probably check it out and see where he's got to. Didn't know the engine was back.

Aah - it's not yet. He's moved onto a 240z while waiting for it. But there was a special show where he went to LA to some Porsche engine specialist where he'd shipped his to, and where his block was being milled and lathed and stuff.
It looked worthy of this thread, in complete contrast to the rest of the build ;)

The parcel that I got a red card for? And probably none of my ID will match because you addressed it to "Internet Wanker"?
-
• #38518
We've met irl. So just 'Wanker'.

The Bromance is intense chaps.
In "what I did on Sunday after I couldn't start the Porsche" news:
- Went out to Colchester
- M5 Touring is a fast car
- The owner took me out in his McLaren MP4-12C, which is faster
- I'm waiting for my curry
- Went out to Colchester

Alos, in related news, anyone know how to tell if this car has the detachable towing hook?

I’m actually a bit worried he won’t be able to collect it now. But it’ll probably be OK, right? I’d feel a proper twat if he can’t.
I had a 2006 1 series with a removable tow bar. You had to get on your hands and knees and peer under the bumper to see the fittings. Or look under the boot carpet for the tow bar.

I'll let you know tomorrow....
I have to go to the GPO anyway.
-
• #38523
Which GPO? From the gas board to the fire brigade there’s a dozen of them.
It’ll be fine.
Though the joke seems really shit now. I should have just asked you for your surname.

Volvo 1, Porsche 0
I pretty much get this any time I buy anything of value. I think it's just the way I come across (I.e someone who asks too many technical questions that they are I'll equipped to deal with) and dress (I'm possibly thinking about buying a car, not joining the Dutch royal family (they have a royal family Yeah) for brunch.... So why would I be dressed up?).
Last new car I ordered (old work car, a3 1.4tfsi) ) was a via dealer job and honestly I put more effort into my customers selling them a £30 bike tyre, the whole process seemed to just be a drag to them.
