I suspect I could import a California car in good condition for that money

Elon Musk is my hero. This world would be such a better place to live if all big CEO's started acting like him.
I'm more interested in the Electric HGV's that were at the same launch though.

What about the Semi Truck though

Ffs. Car depreciation for me atm. My fucked clutch may of course not be covered by insurance after all. Hydraulic bits are, but flywheel and pressure plate etc are not. And there's apparently no way of knowing what the issue is before they've torn the gearbox out at which point I'll know if this'll cost me £200 or £1500. Can't decide whether to take the gamble or to get the clutch replaced at a local independent garage for £900 and be done with it... Gaah!

Really enjoyed that. What a bunch of cars!

Maybe like a lot of us I subscribe to a few car channels on YouTube with their top 10, 5 worst etc etc in your face click-baity videos (Car Throttle comes to mind) but Harry's Garage is just nice to watch. He comes across as knowledgeable but still very passionate in a classy old school way.

You’ve got some sort of aftermarket warranty?
They’ll often pay a contribution to labour, £40 an hour or whatever, at your local Indy if you don’t want to use their recommended place. Read the small print carefully.

Should be easy to to tell if the hydralics have failed. They would need to do a pressure test.

I got my wheels rebalanced yesterday after white knuckling it all the way back from Bristol, that lasted all of 10 miles before the vibration came back.
Garage said the alloy is probably out of shape if this doesn't fix it and suggested swapping the fronts out with the rears, any thoughts? fond of cheap fixes
-
• #38293
And when they spun it up to balance the wheel they didn't notice anything?
-
• #38294
Two garages have balanced them now! Noticed it was out and weighted it but I'm not sure they were looking for an oval wheel
-
• #38295
Very handsome, but not suited to motorway trips I think
-
• #38296
When the wheel is spun up on the balancer the problem is usually visible.
Have any wieghts come off since balancing.
-
• #38297
Poor alignment can generate a vibration through the steering wheel even when the wheels are balanced- the Volvo did this at ~80mph until I had it aligned.

pressure test
Thanks for that, will ask them on Monday. Volvo have been less than pleasant so far, front desk woman who I spoke to first was completely clueless and the rough voiced mechanic guy who rang me back was rude and trés nonchalant... Would be nice to tell them to fuck themselves with an irregularly shaped object but if they start playing along it could save me about £1k so worth a few more attempts I suppose.

Thanks, no such luck sadly

Congratulations on getting it back. Looks like a proper job. My parents have taken their Traveller off the road for winter now but my dad's now thinking about a 1275 swap. Is yours still a thou?
New money pit project for @Dammit?
