Take it. First offer is always the best.
Are you sure it's not the +£2k thing?
-
• #36053
Nah, this is via the medium of Facebook PM.
-
• #36054
He's asked how close he needs to get, realistically, to my absolute minimum.
-
• #36055
Fun.
He wants it. You don't actually need to sell. Tell him you've had a change of heart and are thinking you'll hang on to it.
Watch him chase.

Something like:
'Sorry to mess you about, but all of this has made me wonder whether I really want to sell at all. I can't help thinking I'll miss the car and I know I'll never find another as good.'
-
• #36057
I'll deploy that line tomorrow. Will report back.

@Dammit soz I missed your question, yes I'm on Alpha N, no compensation for air density so big changes in altitude can cause issues. Mine drives well around town and is pretty consistent, cold start is spot on and idle is good, although a little high. Very driveable, but we actually ended up going less aggressive on the cam choice so that's helped, it was quite lumpy before.
The new ECU and engine management has made a world of difference too. -

I always get worried when someone accepts a really low offer. Generally means something is about to go bang and be expensive. So hold your line. The Volvo is worth the money to the right buyer.
-
• #36060
Once I sell it the minimum cost to get the same car again is going to be a minimum of 20k.
-
• #36061
Ah, ok- you went standalone. I'd prefer not to do that, might consider individual butterflies but plenum fed (with MAF at intake) so everything plays nicely.

Negotiations are now live, more coffee required

• #36063
Offer made, offer declined.
-
• #36064
£6700?
-
• #36065
Hah, no- he offered £5,500
-
• #36066
I'd have said yes to £6,700, probably.
-
• #36067
Did you counter offer? Do you think he is coming back?
-
• #36068
That's a low offer - it's sufficiently far enough away from yours that it must be tempting to not engage with him.
-
• #36069
"With regards to your offer, I'm going to have to say no - whilst you may think this is a negotiating position I genuinely believe that the car is worth more than that. For me to get into the same car once I sell it would be around £20,000, building an 850R to the standard that this one is."
-
• #36070
I'm not sure that works does it? Have you found somewhere online that's managed that?
Is that for the Porsche?
-
• #36071
You generally do that (ITB's from an enclosed plenum) with a MAP sensor - for boosted applications. If you had a MAF post air-filter then I am making a massive assumption that it would be similar, although of course you might have momentary lag as the butterflies open - IDK.
Edited to add - the MAP sensors are post butterfly, generally, so thinking about it MAF might be totally unworkable.

"Neil, thank you very much for your time both yesterday and today, unfortunately even if I increased my bid by a few hundred pounds I feel it would be too low an offer for you, quite rightly you want top money for your car, and I'm sure there is a buyer out there for you, glwts and it was nice meeting you."
There we go. Hmm.

• #36073
You may get him up to £62/300, give it a day or so

Head over heart has convinced me to sell my Mini. I'll get some proper pics up at the weekend. But in summary...
...owned it from new. It's been looked after and serviced. Low mileage is due to living in London and then being away for a year when I was run by my folks. Great car, fund to drive and practical. Also comes with a TLC service pack and recently had all tyres replaced + lazer tracking.Pretty similar to this but without alloys.

Also if anyone has any tips on how to sell, that would be appreciated. I didn't order it with alloys as I'm not that fussed about them, but do folks reckon it's worth picking up a set to sell with the car?
If the tyres weren't new and properly tracked it would be a nobrainer.
Yep.
