He probably saved himself well over £50k in tax and reg charges for having an M3 in Norway along with creating an awesome sleeper car.

s54 engine swap to a normal e46 sedan would have been sleeper. Not denying its awesome tho.

It's the tax thing that makes it interesting. Plus the fact he races makes it a bit less nuts, as otherwise I'd have thought a 330i would do the job for most... although I assume tax is based on the original RRP or something.
But yes otherwise the answer to the question; "why isn't there a 4 door M3" is, "because M5".
A 3 series Touring makes more sense to me, because... well it just does.

Shame the donor car looked like such a clean example. Tres beautiful colour it was too.

It did remind me of the oldskool puppykilling days. Guess there's logic to using a decent donor.
TBH I didn't get the gushing over the colour. I guess it's alright on an old 7 serise.

It is the tax thing in Norway that makes all these mad project cars they produce make sense.
Remember a huge project that a very skilled aircraft maintenance engineer built. Was a very inoculous volvo 940 that was crash damaged, he turned into a very solid daily driver but with aircraft quality sealant all over it. Mist have spent £20k exc hus own labour -

Yep- in the long term for T5

• #35385
I just saw that! The one with the big scratch down the side and all the birdshit on the roof?
-
• #35386
Could be. Difficult to say as by the time I got there the fire had really taken hold.
-
• #35387
At least the fire had been put out by that meteorite when i drove past.

• #35388
Well, there's a bit of luck. All's well that ends well, as they say.
-
• #35389
Yep. That be it.... Zone C!
You'll be glad to know it didn't have any dents on it. -

I'm confident that the Volvo can look after itself.

Looks like they took it down just after I linked to it
Late 70's 245 with a v8 in decent condition for £5k

Hah, thanks for thinking of me. Maybe I should send Bad Obsession Motorsport a hearing aid beige 245dl, a 4.7 litre Cerbera, and ask them to produce a V8 Volvo estate.

Thinking out loud. I'd you had £10,000 on top of vehicle purchase price. Would that be enough to make an engineered v8 Volvo wagon with modern drive train, brakes an suspension? Even it cost £20000 you'd have a very cool car that you could keep and use for a long time. Much more interesting than a otp wagon from bmw or Audi?
Edit: by wagon I mean Estate.

Dropped my pug off to a new mechanic today. Found a workshop that mainly builds race cars, so naturally thought they'd love to work on a knackered 306. Turns out they're happy to!
Amazing too, in one corner there's a Renault 5 maxi turbo being built and in the other corner a model t Ford with a twin supercharger Ferrari v12. All custom fabrication by the dudes there. And on the hoist a rally prepped '84 Audi quattro coupe. A proper workshop. Happy, but scared for my wallet. -

I'm guessing the bits of actual Model T Ford in that are few?
This I can get behind:
