I had a S2000 for years when it came out. Best gearbox and engine I've ever driven (considering I've driven pretty much every car out there!), but SCARY handling on the edge. Very hard to control once the tail goes, the opposite of a 350Z. Only major crash I ever had was with that car, spun on a motorway and damaged all 4 corners of the car.
But I heard the later versions kind of solved that problem. I loved that car. Bound to be a classic too.Do you do something car related for a living Jorgo?

VW Lupo is the only car for me! :P

Hmm... I don't know... there's a GP/JCW (Haven't seen it myself yet) for sale at our local BMW/MINI Garage for about €30,000 which is a good deal and it would come with service and all that jazz which is handy when you do as much mileage as I do... €15 - 20,000 would buy a very tidy S2000 at the moment though...
30k??! 30K would get you a shit hot tuned Cooper S rather than a GP. Don't even consider a standard 210bhp JCW, it's really pointless and a lot have failed to make the claimed 210 on a rolling road.
I don't mean to trash talk the GP, it's a very nice MINI, it's better than very nice. I just know a lot of the top tuned MINIs in the UK and I just see it as a shame to buy a pre-tuned car when you can it do it better for cheaper yourself.
I've seen a GP hold off track prepped Z4Ms and M3s for lap after lap round the 'Ring, it's beautiful to watch, so you'll enjoy it so much if you get one. That S2000 Vtec sound is addictive though, it needs to be coupled with an HKS exhaust for that proper bark, scream, and yowl from the Vtec.

I know you.
You came on to TMF proclaiming the Lupo as the real new MINI... pffttt....
Lupos are nice but them be fighting words!
It's a very nice car though, you in fact gave me great inspiration for the New MINI I share with my sister, unfortunately she won't let me do it... :(

haha, and that it is! :P handles much like the old mini! :P
what were the plans?

• #3387
2 coils off the springs, 14" steels, dented bonnet from 1320MINI (new MINI salvge place) nitromoorsed and rusted, roof rack from my classic Mini on the New one, Cooper S rear bumper completely stickered over to hide the wrong colour, and classic buckets. Was thinking about getting a Cal look exhaust from a Beetle and fitting that somehow too. My sister wasn't impressed...

Input needed...
Pondering the purchase of a new motor vehicle for myself in the coming months...
Economy, not too hard on juice, preferably around the 2.0l mark (before you start, a 3.8 Porsche is not going to be insurable at my age... ** So there... not looking at anyone in particular...B ;)**
pffttt sounds like excuses to me ;)
I owned that TT- same color too... as ive said to you previously, I had the 6 spd manual and mine had work done to it to give it the " edge" ... it was very quick, great looking, not the best at high speed handling ( I mean open road once you get up to 180km- not mph) has 2 seats in the back but may as well not have, no leg room period unless you're a dwarf and dont need to put yr seat back, Im 5'9 and my seat was right back driving without heels! ... also, the parts are expensive- maybe not there? unsure... but I somehow blew the clutch and the flywheel alone was 1900.00, plus clutch assembly, bearing etc...without mechanics fee $2200k... anyway.. other then that good car but very cramped. Boot size was fair good.

Ok...
Input needed...
Pondering the purchase of a new motor vehicle for myself in the coming months...
Criteria:
Fun drive, not so much worried about top speed, something snappy though...
Economy, not too hard on juice, preferably around the 2.0l mark (before you start, a 3.8 Porsche is not going to be insurable at my age... So there... not looking at anyone in particular...B ;)
Looks, I want a stunner :)
Not really all that bothered about practicality or comfort (within reason)
I've been thinking of the following
Honda S2000
BMW Z4
Audi TT Tdi
All to be had quite reasonably second hand at the moment due to the state of the car trade... Opionions?? Recommendations??
Have at it... ;)
Forget them all, there can only be one choice.......
Series 2 Elise.
go for a 111R and you're getting a Yamaha designed, Toyota 1.8. It has 189bhp, a second cam system (much like honda's V-Tec system) which means it can rev to 8,500rpm. Simple, easy to use soft-top, easy to drive, amazing performance that you can use 90% of the time and cheap servicing (around £240 for a 9k service).
actually make that 2 choice as you could also go for an exige if you feel a bit more hardcore....
I know what I'd go for !! :-)

only 99 in production @ 670k...not bad for a supercar I guess by similar comparisons.. looks very much like a mix of Pagani\Lambo to me
