  • Very nearly bought one of these:

Luckily the guy sold it before I could get there. Was in fully functioning condition (for now), clean and registered for less than $2k au... probably dodged a bullet there. He also had a great CX pallas but needed too much work for me.

  • Hah, I love this car and would make it my wife:

  • I would like to buy one for my retirement project

  • My pal Marcus is selling his CX Familialilialie if that's close enough. It's even white. £3 or 4K I think.

  • Vous avez les pictars?

  • Was riding through Bondi last weekend and saw a dude wafting around in a nicely faded turquoise blue DS safari - so good.

  • Would snap this up if it were me - an appreciating classic if you have the time/space. Easy to keep running too as parts are actually easy to come by, more so over there in the UK.

Pretty much drive any hydropneumatic Cit and you wonder why all cars don't ride that way. Pity about their engines (mostly).

  • Had a DS for my wedding car. Also regret not buying a Renault Aventime I went to look at a couple of years ago.

  • So after getting my coil packs changed under recall, the skoda dealer's 'health check' had presented me with a 2k quote for all the repairs my old octavia vrs needed, I took it to an independent VW specialist for a second opinion.

He said their quote and their list of problems amounted to 'misrepresentation bordering on the fraudulent' and the fact that they made my mum (who picked the car up for me) sign a waiver essentially saying she was driving off in a deathtrap was nothing but scare tactics.

They'd claimed there was a bulge in one of the tyres, he checked all four and was mystified - all are fine, legal and no issues.

He couldn't see any leak from turbo or gearbox, nor any leak from the shocks, all of which they'd claimed.

The only thing he did find was slight play in a wheel bearing, but it was offside, not nearside as they'd stated.

He also checked the brake fluid, which they said was 'jet black' and found it to be absolutely fine.

I honestly can't believe that in this day and age a main dealer would be trying to pull this shit. Think I'm going to contact skoda UK to complain about them.

Anyway, good news is the skoda's back on the road :)

  • I would fucking love a Safari, my mate who owns the SM keeps sending me links to every one that comes up for sale in Oz... Thankfully, that isn't very often...

  • Ace! Yes please!

  • I really want one. Quite a distance from my Volvo to this mind.

    Quite fancy the 6-wheeler Bagagere.

Chatted with a guy at the local tip/recycling centre last Summer.
He was driving a white CX estate.
No problem with parts he claimed,
just with the wheezy underpowered 2-litre engine and the 3-speed auto gear box.

  • 19.250€

    or in english €19,250

  • Er fancy PM me your number, might be interesting for an article I am writing.

  • Xm are brilliant and I miss my diesel. Always wanted the estate as it is huge.

After working on a ds all the panels are available, it was a south african import and bodywise quite good. The interior was sunworn and the mechanicals need overhauling.

  • Probably a bonus hungry tech rather than a Dealership practise, it all depends how they handle it.
Our BMW Dealership frown upon it and will spot check cars and reported work as do BMW themselves doing Mystery Shops.
We also use I-Pads to carry out short video clips to show any extra work required so it is backed up.
Get video footage from your second opinion if you can and mention Watchdog a few times if they don't give you a satisfactory answer.

  • In Porsche fixing news I'm getting a local place (Beckenham) to repair the bumper, and given that they're mixing up paint (whole bumper needs painting) I'm getting them to fix the only other mark on the car - the wheelarch, which may not need paint but just in case it splits when they bend the arch back into shape we've priced in respraying the entire wing:

The price? £350 for bumper and wing, which is (for a change) a lot less than I thought it might be.
