  • ha! love his vid's .... I thought I was a good driver but hes makes all of us look pathetic...I want to learn what he does..

not a slight on him, as he's obviously a good driver and obviously I'm masively jealous but tbf anyone could learn to be a quick driver with his money, a massive old airfield as a training facility and an endless supply of tyres !!!

you dont think it would require at least some raw talent? you clearly haven't witnessed any of my gf's driving, as much as I love them to death, they embarrass me and put most women drivers to shame..... :) you could leave them to it for years and they still wouldnt grasp it haha ...

Some of the things in his gymkhana video are more than something for a "good driver", he's a professional rally driver, you don't get to that level with any amount of money, Tom Chilton in BTCC proves that, the only reason Ken has that amount of money is because of his talent, not the other way around.

I'm not denying that the blokes talented. Far from it. I'm just saying that making his millions owning and then selling DC's obviously havn't hindered his progress.

  • Paul Swift has mad skillz - he's defiantly a chip off the old block !
Stevie, If I'ddone my bike test I'd be with you all the way though my steed would look more supermotard-ish !

  • ADVICE WANTED:

Alright Mini folks, what mods would you recommend for my 1997 Spi Works Cooper S? Only performance mods I've done is change the exhaust for a Millenium system (Same as an RC40)

    Lets have it!

  • It's a Works Cooper S, doing anything to it would be blasphemy.

Buy my Mini and stick a shit hot engine in there.

OR, strip your interior to make it faster. No carpets, two buckets, cage, harnesses. Sorted.

Also, I love how Paul Swift is using what looks to be the original bus sized steering wheel.

  • Yeah... I hear you, also I've heard the Spi's are a bitch to tune and being a Works Cooper S there probably isn't a huge amount more you can get out of it without changing a whole lot of stuff!! Might go down the stripping route but it does have a gorgeous interior as it is... maybe I'll just buy a rust bucket, strip it, patch up the shell and replace the rest of the bodywork with carbon fibre and then throw in a Vtec/R1/Hayabusa engine... I fancy having something for the track but that I can actually drive to the track... Could be fun!

  • ABS stuff is the shit! Get on it. Buy loads of Carbon Fibre and make that car ultra-light.

    Are you on TMF?

I really want a Z Car. I want to be the first person to stick a V Twin in a Mini, ideally the Ducati 998 ;) I need to budget £5k+ for the engine apparently....

  • TMF?? searches

Nah I'm not on the Mini Forum, going to go to my fis=rst mini event soon though, track day at mondello park, can't wait to get it out and throw it around, last time I was there Dad and I were in the 356, we got a few laps on our own 'cause they were worried about having it out on the track with the newer cars in case someone hit it or we couldn't stop, all round drum brakes FTW :D When we came down the straight to Honda after the first lap the whole Porsche club was standing there staring with bated breath to see if we were going to be able to make the corner :) 110mph in a 1957 Porsche is scary stuff!! Great fun though!

    Sounds like a good time!

  • Indeed!! That was years ago though, looking forward to having a go myself :D

I had an MPi sportspack cooper a couple of yars back and without spending decent money they were really shit to tune and even then you couldn't get decent power out of it. SPi's weren't supposed to be as bad but i guess if you want decent power out of an A-series you'll have to go down the tried and tested route of going to a 1380/1450 etc and twin carbs ! Keep at it though, i really miss my mini !

  • VMax Scart and Mini Speed do Supercharger conversions for injection Minis ;)

  • anyone see the incar footage of the safety car at shanghai F1 in the rain?? he was hammering the mercededes and the F1's were still in first
