Sticky caliper - one of the pistons might not be retracting/moving properly? Normally due to corrosion on the piston.

Does it pull to one side when braking?

The M Specialist dealer I flogged my beemer to had a Cayman GTS he took in as a PX he was looking to shift for £16k.....

Does it pull to one side when braking?
Nope, pulls up dead straight, albeit slowly.

Intrigued - I'm in the market for a Cayman. Care to share link?

The Volvo had a sticking calliper and it made a racket, plus it sprayed iron from the disc all over the inside of the wheel. Neither of these symptoms are observable with the 911.

Dont have a link... And actually just googled Cayman GTS... It cant have been a GTS for that money.
I clearly have no idea what im talking about! -

it was this:
http://www.mpowercars.co.uk/vehicle/porsche-cayman-s-2007/but it was parked next to this:
http://www.mpowercars.co.uk/vehicle/porsche-boxster-3-4-981-gts-convertible-pdk-2dr/which i think is where the GTS confusion came from....
Whatever it was, it looked to have fully functioning brakes!

landbrover service / MOT providers in south-ish london? there's one near me on milkwood road but it's got shocking reviews and appears to be staffed entirely by incompetent arseholes.

'Turns out that's £355'.
when did Audi start using (dilute) printer ink as a lubricant? -
• #31412
To be fair, it does require rather a lot of fully-synthetic oil to do an oil change. 11.2 litres in fact. And it's a dry sump system, which may complicate matters.

Sounds like a brake hose is kinked or has collapsed. That way it'll retain pressure in the caliper, but will act as a pressure restrictor in that brake line to give the ropey braking.

@dammit - could it be as simple as air in the fluid? doesn't explain other symptoms though.
Other car stuff.... My A3 1.8 TFSI seems to use 1.5ltr of oil per 1000 klms. And the DSG feels like it's slipping in sport mode after a few full throttle gear changes. Normal or $$$$ to be spent?
Really should have stuck to my guns and got a real manual.

Yup it's LEX compliant, unfortunately not a 130.

Around 3K to buy and insurance is far less than the 1L citroen I had before but I can tell you already that finding big enough parking spaces is a bit of a pain. At least on my street.
People really do get out of the way for it, probably partly because it's so beaten up and has probably the worlds most solid bumper and bullbar ever on the front.

if people don't like the way you drive your land-Rover they should stay off the ruddy pavement.

I've heard, this one was actually stolen and recovered in the past. Since then it's been fitted with a second key/removable switch than when turned or removed cut's power to the starter motor.

I had an old Fiat that could be started with a screwdriver - so I used to park, pop the boot lid, pull the coil and put it in my bag before locking the car up. It was always there when I came back to it.

Hmmm,
I thought my Grand Espace with the Renault G8T diesel engine was badly designed as it requires 8 litres. -

I did this with my OG Anglia that you could start with a 5c piece (colonial currency). Until one day i forgot. At which point it was summarily half-inched.

(sic) Love it.
Well, AA truck is on the way, Precision Porsche can sort it out. I am consumed with a desire to know what's borked, but there you go.
