lovely. how much and how many miles on the clock?
-
• #31354
£3000 will have changed hands at the end including delivery, lots of miles on the clock it's at 200,000 but it had a new engine, box, and other drive parts at around 120,000 according to the extensive service history which I've not managed to look all the way through thoroughly yet.
Got any pics of your one?

I'm reading Ben Fogle's history of the Land Rover at the moment. I have zero need of a Landu but a real craving for one is deceloping nonetheless.

Landu? Landy.
-
• #31359
I wondered if (upper class twit) Ben Fogle referred to pick-up Defenders as 'landaus'?
-
• #31360
Love Defenders and enjoyed driving one offroad immensely. But I wouldn't want to do many road miles in one. #Agricultral

I drove down to the Mrs's parents place in Eastbourne, car was fine on the way down with great brake pedal feel (firm, high bite point, bags of confidence, all easily discernable even when driving like a Vicar who has a couple of elderly parishioners in the car).
The car sat outside overnight (it's normally garaged) and I drove it home this arvo.
The brake pedal now feels soft, there's no discernable bite point (you simply notice that the cars slowing down) and it's also very slow to return- to the point that when doing a three pointer the pedal got lower and lower at each of the three points (if that makes sense).
The car still stops, the pedal becomes firm after a deal of travel, but it's not what it was before - anyone got any insight they'd care to share?

Do you get on well with your mrs' parents?

I was driving their daughter home, so I'd say it's relatively unlikely they'd cut the pipes.

Chap (who is a Porsche mechanic) on a Porsche forum suspects that one of the brake pipes has burst. Interestingly he works at the Porsche Indy specialist who passed the pipes as being fine when I asked them to check them, but there you go.
I'll try to get the car over to them on Tuesday, they can have a look into why my rear screen isn't de-misting at the same time.

Sold the Bimmer at the weekend.
Put a deposit down on one of these yesteday. 11 plate. 60k miles. Was mostly my girlfriends choice, as we're going halves on it, and she'll be using it more than me as I'm gonna mostly be driving her older Cooper as a run around..... But it's actually really good fun to drive. Was suprised. Pretty much the same useable space with the back seats down as my M135i. It will take a while to get used the driving position, and I'm gonna have to look into getting an armrest retro fitted, but apart from that, pretty happy. Now a two mini household!Looking forward doubling my average MPG.

aren't minichoops pretty much beamers anyway?
-
• #31373
I think it will be fun. Will be drastically reducing my anual mileage soon, so keeping the M135i seemed silly. I'd rather have the cash in my pocket.
Anyone know if retro-fitting an arm rest is as easy as I'm telling myself it will be?

Did a naughty thing... I've put a deposit down on a defender I viewed yesterday and they're taking my citroen in as PX for a fair bit more than I paid :) It's quite the basket case but has 6 months MOT and a solid chassis.
It gets delivered on monday if this week's eBaying goes well, so fucking excited that A. I'm getting a defender cheaply and B. It brings my insurance down by just over £1000 a year and C. It has sufficient headroom.
