  • Does anyone have a jumpstart pack? If not I'll buy a charger tonight.

  • My favourite car in the entire universe sold for $18.5m yesterday.

I will see this in the flesh one day...

  • Mingin.

    Actually ball crushingly pretty.

    :oP

  • Here's a lesson for you all. Don't let dark matter physicists get between you and your experiences of getting shitboxes started.

Jump leads straight from battery terminal to battery terminal gets the job done.

  • The downside of a car made of plastic. :oP

  • Silver wheels look much better than the black.

  • black rims = #streetgoth4lyf

  • Dark grey?

  • I know it can look "chav" like,

the personalised number plate ticks that box...

  • Does anyone know:

My car has a fairly flat battery (not enough juice to turn over engine).

It's a 2009 Passat so electronic everything. I'm fairly sure the problem is the battery as if it wasn't charging, it would have failed when I drove to Suffolk at the weekend.

Question: can i just borrow someone's car, buy a replacement and swap over, or will removing the battery cause some kind of brain malfunction and nothing will work?

    Thanks for any advice.

  • it will be fine*

  • Swapping the battery over should be fine.

a 7 year old battery shouldn't be totally fucked though, tried jumping it?

  • It got flat once before, jumped it and was ok for the last 6 months. Can't see why it would be flat when we did 150 mile round trip at the weekend and then it wouldn't start on Wednesday.

Anyhow, bought a battery from garage across the road, stuck it in and it's all good. Replacement battery recommended by googling is bigger than the one in it, so perhaps the battery was underpowered.

  • Closest number plate I could get to the girlfriends name, a nice car should have a girlie name.

Your girlfriend is called Toyota? I thought it referred to the engine.

  • Needs Wurth bumper dye.

  • Needs Wurth bumper dye.

I'd like to make the black plastic trim on my car black again. It's just a little bit around the windows (bumpers are colour matched). Is that the stuff to use?

  • Yep. The only stuff.

    Water it down a bit.

  • This is the stuff that the detailer used on mine: http://gtechniq.com/products/auto/perfect/exterior/paint/c4-permanent-trim-restorer

He said that the areas in which the trim is a little patchy is due to previous attempts by other people to dye the bumpers again.

  • Think I might have drained my new battery trying to start it too many times when I was struggling with my alternator woes.

    Plausible?

Edit - finally worked out the multimeter and its reading 10.77 on the battery(disconnected). That sound too low to start it? Getting conflicting answers from other google results

  • Yep me.

@wasFederal - Did you end up getting this? It looks like quite a clean car but it depends on what you want to use it for? If you were wanting a genuine hot pug or even a Rallye you could spend not a lot more and find something that was more suited to the job.

  • Probably - you want high 11's (like 11.8 or so) for most anything with EFI, etc....

  • 1/4 miles
