  • Just randomly bought a 2000 volvo c70 2.4t/193bhp auto in what I can best describe as "metallic beige"

Got it for less than I just paid for pads and discs for my brick. But it needs either a headgasket, turbo seals (or both), headlights and shafts rebuilt. Inside and out clean as hell. Almost not a mark on it.
Not a quick car. And not one I intended to buy, but for the sake of 2 days doing a hg change and some breaker parts will have a useful second care that could maybe trade for something more useful in future.

  • I got given a not so tidy but rust free (enough) e30 325 touring in black about 5 years ago. I sold off some of the interior and scraped the rest. At the time there was hundreds of them in better shape for cheap, if course now they are in demand :s

  • That's proper rotten! Found that some Japanese cars just rot in the weirdest places. Guess they might do some other parts too as realistically they can't send you back out with rotten ends etc?

  • Seems like they have actually ripped the wheel off it driving it into the garage. It was trailered there!

So going to be getting a new front wing too!

I'd imagine I'll get new ball joints and drop links, maybe steering ends too.

Seems like I was moments away from a big crash with it failing.

  • Metallic beige? Pfft... that colour is known as "Jewish racing gold".

  • I saw the perfect Volvo 242 a couple of times yesterday (it was parked, I was running two laps of Stockholm), 70's so chrome mirrors and single rounds, hearing aid beige.

  • I owned a fantastic 77 242 manual as a teen around 1999. Stands as one of my favorite cars from those days of my life.

  • They never came to the UK- where was yours from/where were you, Sweden?

  • Spotted and heard in Essex (obvs).

  • That is an x pack capri.

  • Even the Zakspeed cannot hide that horrendous styling imo.

  • zakspeed group 5

  • Nathan couldn't find room for the turbo after filling the engine bay with V8:

  • Walnut dash, wilton carpets?

  • Anyone recommend a garage to undertake some partial restoration work to a Mk1 GTI?

  • Define partial restoration work?

EDIT: Forgot he still has me on ignore. Oh well.

  • I know a few good people but it depends on where you are and what work you have in mind b&d?

  • Dearest VanUden,

You are no longer allowed to reply to this thread till you stop teasing and supply pics as promised.

  • Yeah, pot, kettle, and fuck off cunt as well :P

  • Cheers fella.

My brother needs some welding done and an after-market sunroof filled in followed by a blow over.

  • I used this guy for rust-proofing the Ghibli and he was massively thorough:

It's a father and son team, Dad worked at Rolls Royce for decades. They're a bit tucked away and often busy but great attention to detail.

  • I'll give 'em a shout in the morning.
