  • Have not placed an order yet!
am going back in on Saturday with the possibility of doing so... but wanted a week to think it through.

Think I marginally prefer the S3 Sportback in terms of looks, and the cabin is outstanding. Sounds like they're sold on the GTi though

  • Interesting, CarWow is like drivethedeal. An old school friend is head of content there and even still I couldn't work out what they do. I thought they just wrote moderately entertaining reviews.

  • I picked this up on Sunday, was originally looking for a e90 330d m sport coupe but after looking for a few weeks and only seeing high mileage junk I've ended up with this. The run flats are ruining it so will be swapped for normal tyres, debating swappings the wheels for some E46 csl reps. Also need to find a suitable bike rack if anyone has any ideas?

  • Nice choice!

I think @hoops can help with the bike rack.

Z4s definitely look awesome on staggered concave wheels, have you considered ATS DTCs?

  • sweet!

  • I was looking for something OEM looking, I've had a look around for some second hand BMW MV3 or MV4 wheels but they all seem to be cracked (very common when run flats have been used)

    I've found these which seem to be the perfect sizes and offset, look identical to the OEM ones and after reading a few forums seem stronger than the originals;

  • I nearly bought a Z4 in the middle of last year.

Apparently the Saris Gran Fondo works well with the hard top you have. @hoops will deffo recommend the Sea Sucker bike racks...

  • Thanks for the info, I'll have a look into both of those.

  • Nice.
As the others have said. Get a seasucker. Works great with coupés. They do a single, double, or triple. The whole lot can be put on in about 5 minutes, and taken off in 30 seconds.
I have a double and it works well. A bit daunting the first time though.

  • Argh the MV3 and 4 are hideous!!

    M-Parallels?

  • cheers hoops, I'm not sure a double would work on the z4 due to the head room bulges in the roof! I'll have to get out and see how big the roof space is.

  • I think the M-Parallels are abit too oldschool for the Z4. I've also had a look at BBS CH's but by the time you get to the widths and offsets I'm looking at they certainly not cheap.

  • Love the Z4 coupe and I think those wheels suit it well

  • For all you CSL / Z4 fanboys.

  • I adore CSL's.

  • Unassuming and 0-60 in 4.9 secs floats my boat!

  • What he^ said.

  • Yesterday's journey proved that the electric handbrake / auto hold thing on the Golf is shit. The one thing the auto hold is supposed to do - I.e. Not release the handbrake until the car has forward motion - doesn't fucking work on even gentle uphill gradients. It just releases when you give it some gas and the fucking car rolls back.
What was wrong with a handbrake lever and cable exactly?

  • releases when you give it some gas

It does take some getting used to, but the key is not to give it gas. As you start to raise the clutch the car automatically adds revs, then drops the handbrake as the clutch bites.

At least, that's how mine works.

  • Or just learn how to do a hill start without needing the handbrake...I can't think of many occasions where I've needed to!

  • I don't like it either, I much prefer having actual control, but once you get the hang of it it's actually functioning perfectly fine. But it's still shit. By principle.

  • I blame Airbus.

  • You mean, The French?
