You have no soul.
I'm not stupid enough to own a car that spends more time having its' "idiosyncrasies" dealt with than I get to spend driving it.
Elan - pfft...

pfft - that's part of the fun! all old cars need a bit of love. it's the trade off for a classic sports car insead of a washing machine that is dull as fuck.
how many lotii have you experienced?

The chap who looks after my Volvo shares a workshop with Nigel Altiss of Altiss Engineering- chap who built Red Victor.
Anyway, one of the services he offers is rebuilding Lotus engine blocks by laying down TIG welds, one after another, then machining.
This is clearly not a marginal expense, so the engines must be worth it to the people who get him to do this after their engines have failed.
II woudl quite like a Lotus, but it's a long way down the list right now.

The only Lotus I'd own would be one of the worst - a 90's Elan.

In an Elan you will always look amazing even when broken down....then you can Imagine Emma Peel in her catsuit.

My Mum had a 60's Elan, apparently it was always breaking down. She had to sell it to get a sensible car when I turned up. So she got a mini. Even that was more reliable than that Lotus.

One of the greatest handling front wheel drive cars ever, if only Fiat hand used the lowest quality russian steel possible in them.
You'd be crazy not to own one.

I do not disagree with this statement. Next best fun I had in a small FWD was a 205 GTi. The alfasud though, something about the flat 4 sound and vibrations mixed with that chassis.... felt like the car was dancing.
Not sure about the sprint though, that felt awkward in comparison. Was not as well sorted.

I've always liked the 145 shape
Saw one of these today, wouldn't say no

Peugeots of 20yrs ago had FWD handling down to a tee.
The 306, although a little fat was very lively and fun while still being comfortable.
