  • At minispeed now, using their tools doing all the work myself!
    Have two shot brake cylinders....bollocks.

  • I have a slow puncture in my right front tyre. Boo. Must have done it when I overshot the end of a dual carriageway bit of the A40 and had to go on the stripy bit.

As there are 3 different types of tyre on the car at the moment I may just push the fuck it button and slap 4 new Contis on the credit card.

good work - that should be straight forward.

i've been up at the garage and given the b the full 36,000 miler. changed the oil/air/fuel filters, oil, water and plugs. checked the mixture, balanced the carbs, greased everything and set the valves. i have taken the brake calipers off ready to chuck the new ones on next weekend. all for £67.

i still have to change the throttle cable, replace the thermostat housing studs and the washer system.

neil - your car looks awesome. that is the best £100 you will ever spend on that car. i am looking forward to getting mine done now.

  • where can I buy a new oil switch in London for my mkIII golf this weekend? I've been at work all day today and now nowhere is open.

Is the £100 for detailing a general offer - I am keen, my car needs some love.

  • Richie- good to hear, thanks.

    Toyo's...

  • I like it... shameful I know.

RIP Allan Simonsen, that guy sure could pedal.
    Watch this.

    I love this video.

After bouncing around in the little Datsun for a while I decided I could do with a long distance cruiser for the summer. Enter my new (old) Mercedes...

This is really nice. Good purchase.

i will report back this afternoon. i am going to take the b over to him once i have sorted the brakes (today, hopefully). he is a nice guy.

When have you got it booked in?

    You sorted it?

4 tyres is always a good purchase when you've got all different.

Neil's was £150 as it is masssssiiiiveee but it's still money well spent. I was amazed at the difference. It's like a whole new car.

It's a friend of mine, send me a PM and I'll sort you out. £100 is the base price, smaller car and it's cheaper, bigger car and it's more, or if it needs a lot of work. Eg. Dammit's spoiler needed 6 passes apparently.

  • i was going to do it this week, but it will prob be two weeks time

  • Toyo's...

Not a chance. I've just seen their wet grip rating!
Conti Premium Contact 5s, and hang the expense.

  • I have two different sets of boots on the front and rear. Should be amusing sorting and sourcing new ones.

Contis are good tyres. Just don't let Hippy see that.

  • Niall I have Toyo T1-R's all round- grip really well in the wet.

  • The only ones you can get in my size appear to be CF-1

The Contis are supposed to be the best for the W124 according to Nicholas Froome from http://www.w124.co.uk/
    No contest:

  • Toyo CF1s are no good. Had them on my Mini many moons ago.

  • Some Outlaw 356 repost action after recent chat on the watches thread.

  • ^angels cried for that yellow one

  • So today, had all both brake cylinders changed, shoes replaced, pads replaced, all engine bushes replaced with essentially solid racing ones, steering rack tightened and adjusted (so my wheel doesnt fall off), windscreen wipers adjusted, engine retuned with my new K&n filter (sounds soo good and gargles on the overrun), battery cable replaced,

    Things left to do:
    Make a carbon fibre dash
    Repair stone chips
    Get 10x7 split rims
    ........1380 engine swap........

  • ^angels cried for that yellow one

Yu huh. That car was in the UK until last year, belonged to a well known rusty Porsche and VW enthusiast and was cool. It got sold to the states and had the silly suspension fitted and now isn't cool.

  • nope. it does buy lamborghinis though.

I'd definitely rather have Lamborghinis than taste.

Taste doesn't go really fast really noisily.

  • Also, next week would anyone who is confident with electrics be able to help me install an alarm and potentially central locking? Im thinking about getting this kit: http://www.aseriesspares.co.uk/alarms-/-security/a-sd-alarm-packages/gold-packages-alarm-/-immobiliser-w/-central-locking/classic-mini-mk3-onwards-a-sd-v2-0-alarm-/-immobiliser-w/-central-locking-kit/prod_1172.html
but scared i will cock up

  • ^something just doesn't look right about it
