  • ^^ Ha. Good work.

    As if by tragic...

Looks like a 'merican porsche 917 fail copy.

  • I'd love a Charger.

    Me too...

  • well got a puncture at 2 am last night while driving home! thank fuck for tyreweld

  • Always at the worst times!

  • This morning, and the car still has all its air in at 30psi - should I take it to a shop to get looked at, or is it ok to leave? will be doing about 40 motorway miles to the country on sunday though

  • Depends on what caused the puncture and where it is. A damaged sidewall would need replacing; a nail through the tread might work its way out again. Take a footpump with you in case it has a slow puncture.

FYI most places won't want to repair a puncture on a tyre that has had tyre-weld used on it, because it's a pain to clean it all out. Plus, they'd prefer to sell you a new tyre.

  • They're buggers for that- next time I get one I'm going to make it clear from the outset that the options are:

    1. Fix the puncture
    2. Fit a tyre that I will supply at a later date
  • In other news, the Americans are putting V8's in ALL THE THINGS

  • Couple of things:
best value bike roof rack (trackie to velodrome)
best place to find a high miler decent saloon merc or beemer

  • also my girlfriend gave me the number 96 door sticker for the car :) not sure though if I should use the miglia door square or the round one the vinyl comes with

  • what do you think of these wheels? 10x6 ultralites

look sweet on red and black minis look:

  • It won't pass an MOT with tyres outside the guards, friend of mine at college used to get round that by swapping the wheels over before the test, but he was always worried about being pulled by a copper for it.

  • I already have 6x10s on mine and it passed its mot fine has proper guards

  • Same offset though?

  • hmmm should be

  • i still have about 3/4 of a inch of arch as well left in width

  • It won't pass an MOT with tyres outside the guards, friend of mine at college used to get round that by swapping the wheels over before the test, but he was always worried about being pulled by a copper for it.

Interwebz myth that it's in the MoT test I think.

It is however covered by the construction and use regs 1986 :

"63. ...heavy motor cars, motor cars and motor cycles, not being agricultural motor vehicles or pedestrian-controlled vehicles shall be equipped with wings or other similar fittings to catch, so far as practicable, mud or water thrown up by the rotation of its wheels or tracks unless adequate protection is afforded by the body of the vehicle."

This seems to be interpreted as the tread should not poke out beyond the arches with the wheels straight ahead. So streeeetch tyres are fine if only the sidewall sits out past the arches.

You may even get away with TB5s sticking out like that, but probably not :

  • It's entirely possible that Mike changed his front wheels for no reason I suppose- he bought the car with two sets of fronts, one set of which was presented to him as the "MOT legal ones", so he always changed them ahead of the test.

  • to him as the "legal ones", so he always chose to break the law after passing the test.

    Ftfy.

Vehicles must be maintained such that they would pass an MOT test if presented, regardless of the remaining validity of any existing pass certificate.

  • Is that an actual stated requirement? Loads of the cars which drive around South London would break that - window tints on the passenger windows (and sometimes screen) for example.

  • This is worth scanning through - probably even better if you speak Norwegian: http://forum.vccn.no/showthread.php?26734-Magnum-Volvo-245-GT-D

  • best place to find a high miler decent saloon merc or beemer

The internet, but you're not going to be able to insure one for another 8 years.

Mini's just don't look right with that much wheel outside the bodywork. Ruins their handling by all accounts too.
They look nicest with these factory 12s, to me.

  • Ideas of places that stock 165 tyres for 10 inch rims in London? Need to get to the cuntry on Monday

  • You could try Mytyres.co.uk.
They stock Yokos and Falkens in 165/70 x 10
