  • it's funny, painted white, it looks like any old alu frame. Defo gonna keep mine original. Gotta put some rigid forks on it tho.

Agreed - although it still looks awesome in the flesh, the colour wasnt properly captured by my Iphone

  • Those were the days. Syncros 450mm extra strong seatpost too. I remember wanting that also.

The Klein and Cannondales had the best guarantees, for the frame and own-built parts.

I loved the Klein headset-stem-fork solution. Innovative, and most excellent.

  • Damn you Gabes!

You have made me want another one now.

I had the Attitude with the blue/green paint, I wished I could have afforded the Comp.

I sold the Klein in the end in Heathrow car-park to fund three months in Greece.

  • Some right moody lookin bikes on here!

  • to be honest, the comp wasn't a lot better, it had disc brakes, which i changed, cos they were hayes and failed in 3 months, and i've changed every other part on the bike over time.

  • Mine came with V-Brakes, I swapped the front for an XT disc (and getting told off by Mosquito when I bought it).

Had my worst ever accident on that bike (T-boned by a motorbike courier on Charing Cross rd) but still loved that bike.

  • I had the Mantra Comp in Blastberry Fade trick paint:

    Similar to this...

  • Most Kleins were just gorgeous. Some however, just weren't as nice. I know which I like.

  • vinyl, that's wicked, Tioga tension disc! classic

    I've seen Odge with a 700c version.

  • This is my neighbors klein that he has converted, he has had it from new and it was a custom build for him - he has a bike collection to rival yours fiddy! :

(Pricks up ears) You mean I've got competition??? Impossible!

  • Anyway I'd like a Klein for the collection.

  • fiddy's going off road

  • Not a a Klein but check out that chainring size! This is for off road too.!

  • Anyone know the history/what happened to these?

If memory serves me well I have gone through 8 Kleins (!!!!!) I still have a Klein Attitude at the moment.

Light, stiff, fast, agile, they have all been great and they have all been stolen.

    Here is my current one:

  • That's the Mantra Pro, the Mantra Comp had an alloy monocoque section and was more square in shape. The Mantra Race and Mantra Pro looked like that picture with the carbon monocoque.

I had a Mantra Comp (in that weird green/purple/blue disco paint). I also had a Mantra race which looked just like that picture but black.

And my Klein obsession (now cured) doesn't end there - I wrote a love song to my Mantra Race (called simply 'Mantra Race') on my old bands second album.

I'll can sell you my super super super light Attitude if you want.

  • I fucking love Klein MTB's, couldn't afford one until after Gary sold out to Trek but I still want one like the gator fade one above (93'ish I think)

He was miles ahead of his time and though my attitude is seriously unforgiving the mission control bars and stem were the shit. (first integrated headset?) I miss early 90's mountain bikes; disc wheels, 140mm stems and people drilling holes in components then wondering why they failed...

    That's what I had too - memory's going...

  • Trivia point for Seinfeld fans like me: there's a Klein bike hanging on the wall in jerry's flat in most episodes, a green one i think. how bout dat!

  • sexytime.
