-
• #5

Hardcore spunk is so passe..
its all about amputee fisting now.

• #7
hardcore punk / good bands was my point...
They are all shit, isn't that their point?
-
• #8
Ignore the trolls- name a few bands. Even back in the old days "hardcore" was different to other punk genres-and UK was different to US.
-

Hardcore is thriving as much now as it ever was.
Its hard to witness the 'scene' without actually being there, its a genre inherently not best experienced on record.

why comment just to annoy people?

I love Minor Threat and Fugazi. Last time I went to a hardcore show I was stunned by the extent to which it seems to have become a fashion club. Even compared to '96-'01 (just before guitars became cool again) when I went to as many punk rock gigs as I could. Anyway, I'm far too into embarassing electro-ish tat and reggae these days to really care.
Having said that I'd love to be pointed in the direction of some good stuff where my lack of tattoos won't effect my credibility too much.

still love lots of them ... old discharge, gbh, black flag, bad brains and so on. when it comes to good stuff, who cares about the etiquette ;)

because it's a discussion forum, have you pigeon-holed me as a "hater"?
I'm an ex-punk and proud of the "ex", all scenes have good bands and great lyrics, they also have an abundabce of shit bands who are popular purely because of their image...BTW I am 40!
I saw Fugazi at the Kilburn National, a bunch of narcissistic, self-righteous twats, plus the show was shit.....give me Snuff any day.

Deny EverythingYou get the idea

That's more like it. Agreed, except the fugazi bit possibly.
-
• #16
I hate fugazi.
they are boring & unlistenable. - but not in a 'punk' way, in a 'shit' way.

just wondering if anyone in heres into hardcore
know theres a guy into nausea wondering if theres any more people into it?If you can find any of their records, there was a great post-hardcore band from Jacksonville, FL called Twelve Hour Turn. Very good. I liked most of the stuff on No Idea records. Not so into that stuff anymore, but sometimes it's fun to give it a listen.

Snuff are from my home town. The post-Snuff output is embarrassing. I'd much rather see Fugazi - at least their members have made some significant contributions to the philosophy of alternative music.
Also, my bike themed hardcore band still needs a guitarist.

i used to be into punk and hardecore, but now i can't be fucked with it. living in the only punk venue in town and still managing 3-5 shows a week with national, local, and international independent bands burned me out on the scene. this was all 4-8 years ago, one of the bands that used to sleep on our couch has made it fairly big, and the band that stole my kitten was huge in the folk punk scene last year.
i still put on some of the bands i used to like for nastalgias sake, but hardly listen to it, let alone go to shows these days. I will probably go to a few more, but all the kids at them are still 16, and the bands are not in there 20's any more.

philosophy of alternative music? enlighten me, i thought the only point of starting a (serious) band was to make a living, ergo sell out.

they stole your kitten? that's harsh!

I go to quite a lot of shows, not sure how I feel about the whole thing. I love the music but pretty much everything else about it is questionable at best. Some of the London hardcore shows are excruciatingly elitist, and those are just the big names. I like a couple of Rucktion bands but I don't really have any desire to go to any Rucktion shows - I just don't fit the bill, I'd stick out like a sore thumb and get judged to the ground. Its a bit sad really.

they stole your kitten? that's harsh!
they claimed it "crawled into a drum case and we didn't notice"
then they claimed "we found it in a fridge, and had to rescue it"
the found it in a fridge bit is true, but it was an unplugged fridge turned on its side and lined with blankets that the kitten slept in.
all I know is I want mittens back.
