+imMe, you get no grief because the police see how immaculate your hair and decide to leave you be.

I don't know anyone who hasn't had undeserved grief and aggression from the plod, and this includes 'good clean middle class' types like my parents.
I haven't.

I've never understood cop hate from the mass populace (sp?). Sure occasions of misuse of force can irk, but really how often are the police giving you grief? I've never had any involvement with any police, surely it's a small percentage of the people very rarely. So by that thinking only criminals should have any real reason to hate cops, and thats fine because we all hate criminals right?
And petty crime and more important things. All crimes need policing. If the petty crimes don't get policed due to more important crime, then with no penalty or deterent the petty crimes ceace to be crime, like bicycle theft.
My limited experience with PCSOs has not been brilliant.
PCSO doing the neighbourhood rounds offering free DNA marking kits for my home possessions "due the recent spate of local burglaries." (One due to an open back door)
I politely declined offering my reluctance to give the police my DNA for any reason before getting a complete load of hassle from the PCSO for "not wanting to stop crime, not wanting to help the police" and other such nonsense. He completely lost the plot with me and got quite angry. What complete and utter bollocks.

@ rpm
Nope.My impression is that people are mostly angry about being called to question over petty crime infractions like speeding, rlj, having a bit of weed. And theres a simple solution to that.
indeed, don't do it.
but you obviously haven't been troubled by the police just because of the way you look, the way you dress or the colour of your skin?
that sort of thing can get rather bothersome after a while, and sort of undermines one's faith in the Police force as a whole.

Ok. I've been lucky.
Catch 22 for the more unfortunate I guess.
Still can't condone anger for (or killing, nice one chris) the people who are supposed to be protecting us. A positive move has to be made on one side to start to rectify the problem.
Here's hoping my life continues in such a sheltered manner. -

Guilty as charged.

the problem is that the po-po in this country don't want to do stuff that they are not told to. If their boss tells them they must get 10 RLJ's b4 lunch then they do. but if you ask them to help with a real crime they will fob it off due to too much paperwork. Don't deal with the bigger issues, focus on the petty as it's easier.

@ mr chees vid post
Isn't that quite funny? It shouldn't have happened but he stood his ground because he knew his case and they had to walk away. No harm done and those two cops furthered their knowledge of the law.
Yes I guess the brummie acent helps witht he ammusement.
-

well RLJ'ers don't start punching, shooting or knifing. in general.
it often seems like the filth are just pussies, scared to fight crime. hardened and de-sensitized by society, they often come down too hard on people where it doesn't make any difference, and not hard enough where it does.
tough job, who'd want to do it? not me. but then maybe that's the problem, maybe all law abiding citizens should have equal power to the police? maybe society should start taking responsibility for society's problems, and not expecting others to clean up the mess.

that is the nuts.
the brummie accent makes it so much better!
I used to get hassled by police like that pretty much whenever there was some around - as a yoot in birmingham.
Not that we had accents like that inner city.
But Id still be glad for what police prescence there was, because it was very little compared to now. There was no equivalent to all the bike police & community wardens. There was mostly just no body.
So there was some mad shit going down on a regular basis, its definetely better there being a larger police prescence now even if we have to put up with them causing petty arguments with cyclists.
The recent times ive been to london, Ive had multiple mugging attempts - which ive luckily manage to talk my way out of. Id definetly be happy if a pig on a bike showed up then.

That area of OKR and burgess park seems to be a hotbed of police hassling people on bikes even though it can be a total bastard on the road there and theres more than enough space on the pavements for bikes.
Rolled off Old Kent Road about three weeks ago onto the pavement (to dodge three lanes of impatient motorists) and leapt off and started walking, it was behind the main entrance to tescos and if anyone knows that area its a massive paved area.... anyway, noone around but a bunch of numpty community support officers.... I walk 40 yards towards them and one potatoe headed cnut says 'can I have a word with you'.... he was a complete numpty so I lost it with him.... he gets his anti terrosism search sheet thingy out, his hand was shaking like crazy so I layed it on some more..... two yoooves turn up and start giving it 'wot the fnck iz e stoppin ya for?' and proceeded to call him a cnut as well whilst spitting on the floor in front of him.... anyway, eventually he explained how lucky I was to not go to court to explain it to a judge (explain what exactly???), he wished me a pleasant day, I called him a cnut and cycled off in from of him :)
Not as funny as Haels but....

I watched that and was left with the impression that the police had operated in an aggressive and draconian way for so long that they had contributed if not created that situation. The one officer on this documentary who seemed respectful towards people was doing a far better job than the ones arguing the toss with everyone they met.

"Power-lite", I fucking love that. Nicely done Mr.Dammit.
I want to see a photo shop mock up with a photo of a PCO with a catch phrase along the lines of
"Power-lite PCOs, all the bull of the bull shit of real police officers, with non of the results"
or maybe something along Godwins law's type lines of
"Power-lite PCOs, like a little Hittler but with out his army"PCSO doing the neighbourhood rounds offering free DNA marking kits for my home possessions "due the recent spate of local burglaries." (One due to an open back door)
Tyan has his own method of DNA marking his goods. They should speak to him and get others t use it.

I understand that some people have issues with the Police in the UK.
However, I spent some time in East Europe and the CCCP back in the 80's and to be honest in comparisson the old bill here are a bunch of girl guides.
I'll put up with the ocasional cnut as the remaining 99% you really don't know they are there.Which is as it should be.
