  • True.
I generally close my eyes at intersections, so if i were a dick and listening to music, i'd be in all sorts of trouble.

  • Anyone who listens to music while trying to to ride in London is an absolute dick. Sometimes your ears are all you have.

I guess you're plugged in to your ipod 100% of the time then. ;p

  • Minimal/fidget mixes (Daniel Steinberg, Solo, HiJack)

I was just skim reading this waiting fot the hoxton hotel sale to start* and read that as Fixed Midgets. Hippy would be proud.

  • Never ever ever ever had any luck with that sale ffs.... Hotel is sweet even at full price though

Add that to your "Noob Guide" and smoke it.

    @koens

I'm not brittish, it's a long story but my mother tongue is french :D and I have three passports, non of which are brittish ^_^ (or french...thank fuck).

  • Damn I was waiting for your complicated nationality story again lol, hey phil pm me your number mate not sure what everyone is up to this weekend but I may head down to soutbank to have a crack at that wallride if you're up for it?

Haha sorry mate, can't be arsed to type it all out.

  • my ipod is a 60gig, I need to get a larger one...anyway generally a selection from

Clutch, Scissorfight, Orange Goblin, High on Fire, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Gates of Slumber, Grand Magus & loads of other stoner, sludge & doom stuff

anything heavy with a good fast beat helps keep the speed up

yeah I find neeeow neeow neeow really helpful on my ride

  • Tried it. I couldn't, I honestly gave it a good chance, in fact it's still on my ipod on the off chance it plays on shuffle but I can't do it..You heard of Torche?

They've grown quite a bit since their first album which is the only one I've actually listened to. Mentor (last song) is insaaane. http://www.myspace.com/torche

Nice, you managed to catch em live??? the guy who was in Cavity has left which is a real shame.
I prefer the earlier stuff to Meanderthal but still cracking.

  • converge - when forever comes crashing
    palehorse - habitual linestepper
    majority rule - emergency numbers
refused - the shape of punk to come
and the like, for city/traffic riding

beirut - the flying club cup
tv on the radio - any
    one am radio - any
    for longer, relaxed rides

Nah never been to a live doom gig.
Btw, what would you say Melvins are? Punk with doom in the mix? I have no idea what they are tbh but I really like some of their songs.

really depends on the album... they've done stuff which pretty much crosses over most styles of heavy.

I saw thier first incarnation at ATP in December.. early grunge, punk type stuff, can really see where mudhoney and the like got their influences. These days Melvins are mor metal/doom, I think the Big Business duo have had a reasonable impact on their current sound.... all in all awesome band. Do you have any of their albums?

Sourvein are playing london in feb... more sludgy but certainly worth checking out.

  • in the summer: old school hip hop
    summertime-fresh prince + jazzyjeff

if i have to be quick:
    Death from above
    and i recomend:
the good the bad and the ugly

  • dont normally ride with music but sometimes on the ride home from a night shift if its quiet on the roads i have done.
and the one i like at the moment is quiet village lp esp " cant be beat"

  • me lives out in the country- all singletrack lanes and blind corners- this somehow makes the listening to music whilst riding a guily pleasure (and a fairly low-volume-only affair) still, dub is good!!

  • The wind...

  • I've been learning Japanese whilst riding. Getting fit, and learning. Now that's being time smart!

  • That's a great idea ... I should do the same with the English language.

  • fuck, i just started a new thread about music without spotting this one. forum awareness fail.

Not really, since this thread has just been redirected through pedagogy and fitness ...

  • I just bought an iPod shuffle for riding (concerned about weight haha!). Girl Talk or Ratatat are great for getting places!

  • A weird selection from AC/DC, Elliot Smith, Nick Drake, Belle & Sebastian and Enio Morccione (not sure about spellings)....

  • I'm too scared to listen to music while cycling, which is weird because I have it pretty loud while driving. I tried listening to music in headphones while driving though, and I couldn't do it at all, it was really unnerving
