Boys' ankles are not so sexee.

    Pravs are.

  • Jesus! I thought this one said HTFU! Nearly fell off my chair.

These are great posters. I'd love some of these on my wall.

  • Intriguing scene

  • Look at it this way - I haven't resorted to anything emotive, nor have I resorted to mudslinging. I've put forward my point of view in a rational way and expect the same in return - but no - what I get back is "Hey, look at this guy - he started a thread about chainlines - what a dork!"

It's a certain type of arrogance comes with a suggestion that you have no need to justify your actions - more people than me are noticeably concerned about the message this thread sends out - yet you choose not to either allay those concerns or accept that what you've done has the potential to offend.

And I find that perhaps more worrying than the pictures themselves.

I stated previously your choice of avatar is very apt. Thanks for proving my point again, the post you intentionally misquote above wasn't aimed at you. READ the thread! It is not arrogance that I feel no need to justify my 'actions' (You mean my words right?) It is because I have tried not to become embroiled in this argument and that I have not sided and instead have listened and tried to learn.
'more people than me are noticeably concerned about the message this thread sends out' - I'd hazard a guess that there are those that aren't concerned, difference is I don't know as fact so won't state it. ++ Is it the thread or the posts within that offend? 'accept that what you've done' Please tell me what it is that I've done? Read the origional post, I tried to raise some money for charity. I don't remember you throwing in, I do however remember Mrs Cliveo and Agata handing over money. I don't think you have vertigo, I think you have altitude sickness.

  • Intriguing scene

Phil giving private trackstand lessons in Victoria Park, perhaps?

  • Boys' ankles are not so sexee.

    oi! they are my ankles.

    That's Loic no?

  • That's Loic no?

  • See what happens to boys who look at girls' bottoms.

she was clearly all over the road to busy thinking about shoes and hair and took out the serious man rider who was coming in behind

  • oi! they are my ankles.

    ooops!

  • That's Loic no?

    In Pajamas' hot trousers!

  • Very naughty!

  • the post you intentionally misquote above wasn't aimed at you.

I do understand what you mean, but you're dead wrong. Maybe the post wasn't aimed at me, but it was aimed at Will, who said that I was clever and thoughtful (his words, not mine I might add). By trying to undermine his comment by referring to posts I'd made and threads I'd started, like it or not, that *is *a personal dig at me! As I said anyway, if you're going to have a dig at me, at least try and undermine the argument, rather than the person who's posting - it only suggests you haven't got a strong and well-structured argument to respond with.

In any case, you keep saying that this wasn't aimed at me - maybe you'd care to explain what your intention of referring to my posting history was then?

It is not arrogance that I feel no need to justify my 'actions' (You mean my words right?) It is because I have tried not to become embroiled in this argument and that I have not sided and instead have listened and tried to learn.

Well, this is possibly a prompt for you to take your own advice above /\/\/\/\/. My posts on this thread were never aimed at you - regardless of the fact you started the thread. I appreciate the effort you must have put in to make some money for charidee, but whether it was your intention or not, the thread has been derailed into something else. I don't hold you personally responsible for this and haven't suggested it either. There's no need to take it personally or feel the need to respond just because I've taken issue with what someone else has posted on 'your' thread.

'more people than me are noticeably concerned about the message this thread sends out' - I'd hazard a guess that there are those that aren't concerned, difference is I don't know as fact so won't state it.

Lots of people have PM-ed me to thank me for taking a stand on this, while practically everyone I spoke to on the memorial ride supported my actions. I would still have said what I did whether a thousand people had said that to me or none. Surely the fact that some people don't like what people are posting on this thread is enough to reconsider its place, and whether its content is appropriate for a fixed wheel cycling forum?

I don't think you have vertigo, I think you have altitude sickness.

I don't consider myself to be taking the moral high ground on this issue - nor do I consider myself in any way 'better' than anyone else just because I don't feel the need to grunt and high-5 over pictures of women. I just didn't think this macho-sexist culture actually existed on this site.

This thread makes me think of that Duff beer commercial from the Simpsons...

Women with Signs: Down with sexism! Down with sexism!
Man 1: Look at all those feminists.
Man 2: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
[they both reach for bottles of beer, shake them up, and spray the foam on the protesters. This magically turns them into dancing bikini models.]
    Both Men: Yeah! All right!

  • Mooks are you bent?

    just out of interest like

  • as a heterosexual male

    I guess not...

  • just checking. you can't be sure these days... it's crazy out there!

  • As the culprit who started the 'rate the Swedish women's team' meme in a moment of flippancy, I'd like to apologise to the whole world for inadvertently causing the thread to overflow once more with pointless feminist posturing.

It wasn't entirely accidental that I used a rating system based on DoI scoring; look at the women on that show, and you'll barely find one whose first qualification for a career in show business wasn't her pleasing looks. If you want to get on a moral crusade against sexism, it would be better to start with the whole of Hollywood, television and pop music, where talent is no substitute for a 'great set of cans' if you want to get on. To waste as much time and effort as some obviously have on a little internet backwater where a great many of the supposedly objectionable posts are made by people whose intent is already to satirise 'Neanderthal' attitudes demonstrates a complete failure of a sense of proportion.

If you really object to men rating women, get thee to a nunnery. How the hell do you think we, alongside pretty much every other vertebrate species, select prospective reproductive partners? And of course, the reverse is true; females rate males, although in modern humans the rating is often less directly correlated with physical attributes.
