You'll look a helmet in any of them, don't worry.

Looks like shit though :)

Lack of venting is why I like aero kit. I spend 95% of my time with a buff under my helmet, and overshoes on. Might as well use stuff without vents in the first place.
Tested the Bamchino last night. Bit warm in there. But it didn't affect vision, head movement, or dig in anywhere. So happy with that.
Also did several runs of the local TT route. Tweeking position. Never ridden in a proper aero position before. First run was terrifying. By the 3rd I already dialed and enjoying it.
It no wonder triathletes have no cool though. Both me and the bike were looking flecking hideous.

I was only really training position (hr 146)
But covered the 14.5km at 35,2kph for only 202w. Sounds cheap to me.

Helmets are very personal, even aero road helmets but less so when your head is stuck up in the air and not causing the airflow to interact with your back much. The Evade is the best choice if you've not got a load to test or don't want to spend money on testing them.

Ps. Loving the technical mess and addendums that is that BikeRadar article ;)
Pps. Cycling Weekly did a little comparison of road vs TT helmet with us at AeroCoach that will go on their website at some point. Results unsurprising! -

How timely - this just arrived in the post; second hand Casco Speedtime. Feels great, looks so silly that I think I can get away with it. Have you seen any data for these Xav?

We've run them through clients' AeroCoach sessions before but we can't divulge their data, the public stuff we give away is only from our sponsored riders

Of course, no worries. Just wondered whether it would actually be any better than my ancient design LAS Chronoaero with full scoop open tail. I'm pretty good at keeping my head still, but you can feel and hear the drag dramatically with any side-to-side movement in the LAS.

Ended up getting a c-originals g14 helmet as it pretty much meets all my racing helmet needs in one go. They're also cheap on sportspursuit at the moment. Will keep the kask for training etc

I like mine.
The bolt on panels are a bit flimsy. But it seems to fit and adjust well. At least on my head. PLus the visor position Works perfectly. Which was my biggest worry. Warmer than a aero road helmet. But then I was expecting that. -
• #870
have you used it without the side panels and top panel thing?
-
• #871
Havent tried that yet.
I have an old Spesh that Dammit left here for ventilation.
The Air Attack still for general training use.
and a Met stradava%#:. for commuting. So I honestly cant be arsed to keep bolting bits off and on. It does look like it'd hold up to repeated bolting though. Decent looking threaded inserts.

I'll only be using it for racing... And probably just special events, so it will live in a helmet bag mostly.
-
• #873
I used it for a training ride followed by a club TT Wednesday with visor and top panels on and both side panels off - TBH that's the config I use most, a touch slower than having the side panels but more versatile. Super easy to take them on and off.

Good to know. I am prone to overheating so a bit of versatility is a plus.

aren't you a trackie/sprinter?
how much can you overheat and actually start to see performance losses as a result in the course of a track sprint race?
the thinking among most time trailers is that for a 25, and possibly even a 50 the aero gains of a cleaner bike are more valuable than having a bottle and drinking from it, so unless a track is cranked up to wiggo hour attempt type temperatures I cant see how you'd negatively affect your performance by being as aero as possible at the expense of heat
(genuine question)
I'm yet to try any of them on yet.
