  • Erm, front or rear? I presume the x axis is degree yaw, y is grams of drag? Is this on a bike or wheel-only? See all the other points about tyre width in previous posts.

  • it's from zipp, so like their other tests: front wheel only, 30mph wind, y = grams of drag.

    I found it here: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=97169&start=30

25 grams of drag (in a test at 30mph) is about 1 watt at 20mph

  • 90mm rear faster than discs?

  • Enve and Sram both reckon their top end deep wheels are faster than some discs.

  • Oh, "some discs"

  • Surprisingly Zipp reckon their discs are faster. Not sure what would be slower, perhaps the old flat Hed discs.

  • Floppy discs?

  • Nabbed a brand new Nopinz suit for £100

  • Nice. I'm impressed with Nopinz. I sent off my skinsuit last Tuesday, special delivery, so it would've arrived on the Wednesday. I got a slip from the postie on the Thursday saying he'd tried to deliver the return parcel. Same day turnaround - not bad...

  • They are ridiculously quick. Same turnaround for me after I broke my zip week before National 100.

  • We've gone with their 'Supersuit' for our club.

  • They're fast suits.

  • This seems to be the consensus. They'll also apply a good discount if you order 5+.

  • They're doing some interesting things, good for the UK TT scene to have a company really supporting it and developing some new products. Collaboration with Aerocoach / @xavierdisley in the works too.

  • I was talking to an American at the club ten a fortnight ago (we get a lot here who work in aviation/nuclear and engineers love a bit of testing). He was raving about the uk TT scene - that most large towns have weekly TT. He takes his bike as he moves about for business and gets more racing in a month than in six back home.

It's fertile ground for innovative small companies I'd have thought.

  • The thing is to try not to be elitist when working within TTs, as it's so grassroots. NoPinz have really nailed it with the Speedpocket, it's not only an excellent idea but the quality/service is really good. The guys at NoPinz are really trying to innovate with the products, rather than just making something and marketing it they do have the data to back things up.

We try to bring aerodynamic testing to the masses with AeroCoach as well - our paired test manual session (2 riders/2hrs) is exactly 1/3 the cost of a Drag2Zero tunnel session, it's more relevant to outdoor riding and you get more runs in 2hrs without losing data accuracy. Rolling out the live kit next month (+£125/rider) which is unreal in terms of what you can get done in the time slot.

  • Time to test the PBP setup...

  • @xavierdisley I'm about to order some of your leg trips, but was I was just wondering whether you know of anyone who has tried them in SLVLSS events and how well they adhere to the skin in water and with the removal of the wetsuit? I'll probably order some to try anyway but was just wondering.

  • Joe Skipper used them to his mega bike split in IM Texas, they've been used by others okay too. The best plan is to put them on as early as possible to let the glue adhere better

  • Super... order placed :-)

  • Cool!

  • Suppose you could always put some compression calf sock/legging things on under the wetsuit so you don't accidentally damage the trips when you roll the legs of the wetsuit off in the heat of the race.

  • @ewanmac I've used them for a 70.3 and as Xavier said i put them on approx 3 hours before the event, and stripped them off at the end of the bike.

my only complaint is that i had a reaction to the glue which i didn't get from a 50 or a 25 but i've had reactions to having energy gels on my legs as well so that may well be personal...
