  • She's not a looker, probs rapid though.

  • indeed - there seems to be another weird rear brake half way down the seat-tube....???

  • looks like pistons - new hydraulic rim brakes?

    Indeed they are: https://www.google.com/patents/US20140265222

  • Too weird for me

  • I wish I could be like that and go full nerd. Ain't nobody got time for that.

  • Looks like Trinity setup but a bit further back. Not that weird is it?

  • I'm running hydraulic rim brakes on my Shiv.

This version pushes a much longer arm towards the rim, rather than the Magura design which spreads apart two arms.

  • Trinity are just mini-v though.

^^is some fucked up future shit - the fronts pivot horizontally...

  • Yeah, I see the design diagrams now. Interesting stuff.

  • looks like pistons - new hydraulic rim brakes?

Looks hydraulic in the patent drawings, but cable actuated on the bike photo.

  • The patent application lists a hydraulic lever and master cylinder.

  • I had a quick read of the patent and it seems to be a hydraulic caliper brake that's integrated as part of the fork/frame, to be used with r785's for example.

  • I don't doubt that they've filed patent applications for hydraulic, but the photo seems to be of a cable actuated variant.

  • Are the brake mounts positioned there to get less turbolence from the wheel spinning?

  • Behind the fork is more aero than in front of the fork because.. probably doesn't mess up the airflow before it passes over the front of the fork blade or frame as much but I'm not aeronerd enough.

  • Sure but why the mounts are so low? I thought maybe because at that height the speed of the wheel spinning is lower compared to traditional positions closer to the tyre thus creating less interference and turbulence with the mounts themselves?

  • What do you mean low? They need to clear the downtube at the front and at the rear they could help shield the rear wheel rather than mess up the seat cluster. Because you're not allowed fairings but if the brakes act as a fairing...

  • Rear brake behind water bottle. Nice touch.

  • Actually I was referring to the patent's design at the top of the page but seeing the real thing it has more traditional mounts
Also as the real thing has brake cables which need to clear the wheel

  • Christ that is ugly

  • Winning races looks fucking great though. Function >>> Form

I think it looks rad, save for the stem.

  • I totally want one.

Anyone want to but a Felt AR1? less than 5months and 3k ridden. Size age 10-12years.

  • Does it smell of vomit?
