  • 140 really is all you need on the back

Yes, it was more a comment about 140mm front rotors. With kinetic energy being proportional to v2 and road riders descending at speeds which even DH riders don't, it seems that road bikes should be getting bigger rotors than MTBs, not smaller ones.

  • My ENVE fork was designed for a 140 front, I didn't quite trust that so used an adapter to go to 160 due to the reasons you express.

  • I swapped out the 3T set back seatpost for the norco carbon one, on the premise that there's less going on, and the bolts are inline (one at front, one at back, instead of on the sides) so it's got to be more aero.

My thighs rub on the Cervelo aero seat post, I'd be surprised if there was any air movement at the saddle clamp :-)

  • Yea for sure, I think it's more a psychological thing, like go-faster stripes.

For now maybe I'm lucky with 27.2 seatpost diameter with the Romin saddle, I don't notice any rub. Is the Cervelo significantly wider?

  • Is the Cervelo significantly wider?

No, it's quite a bit narrower, but I have narrow hips and fat thighs. I've rubbed the colour off the tape which covers the front hole (where the logo plug is in the picture), and it's only about 9mm wide there.

  • Is that also determined by your position on the saddle/frame? I'm quite sure I am riding more on the nose, for better or worse, and only notice more rubbing if I am forcing myself to sit further back onto the saddle.

  • It's determined by him being a fatty

That has an effect, I sit way back on the bike. If I sat on the nose of a full length saddle slammed forward in the front clamp hole, my thighs wouldn't get near the post.

  • Ah sure, maybe where we differ then

  • I am bored and wont be buying any bikes anytime soon; I want to make my madone as aero as possible on budget for lols; where do I start? Velotoze? Taping on stuff .. we are talking UCI/CTC illegal stuff. It will soon have EC90 aero (55mm deep) wheels.

  • Aerobars, 20mm tubs, Castelli bodysuit, aerotesting/wind tunnel to work out your optimum position + helmet, TriRig Omega SV brakes, Elite Crono bottles. Single ring up front.

  • Elite Crono bottles

This I like. Will be ordering Velotoze (how are they?); Already have the castelli body suit ;)
I'd rather bend my elbows on hoods and drops than get aerobars on a road bike; isnt that more aero anyway? http://road.cc/content/news/133598-want-ride-faster-hunker-down-hoods
Brakes wont change as DA9010 are fucking amazing. Also direct mount.

  • Velotoze

Delicate, but more aero than most out there besides the £80 Smart ones. Not for general riding really, no breathability so your feet will dissolve in your own sweat.

Aerobars would be faster, but I was being a bit facetious. Flat topped road bar would probably save 3-5 watts at great expense. 38cm bar could make more difference, depends on you position. Horizontal arms on hoods probably more aero than drops, but you need to consider power output/comfort as well.

    Also direct mount

    Hence

    TriRig Omega SV

  • velotoze certainly look very aero. they are a bitch to get on and off, and will you sweat from your feet more than you knew was possible.

  • interesting; more aero-er than these? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fast-forward-ra1-alloychromoly-quick-release-set/

I've had bad experience with lightweight QR.

  • No point considering QR aeros, either get ones that work and don't worry about aero or get a bolt up skewer.

  • Will be ordering Velotoze (how are they?)

Size up a little large: I'm a 46, but would have been better off with L rather than XL.

Tougher than you might think: have walked (not much, two TT) on the heel (as a result of the above), but they haven't torn.

Sweaty: non-breathable, so waterproof both ways.

  • For skewers get Veiwspeed. I'd get in a Group buy.

As with most things aerodynamics; No idea :)
I've been using the same set for approx 5 years now. They cost me £20 at the time. Might buy another pair....
the lever looks fairly similar to the Tune U20 - http://www.tririg.com/articles.php?id=2013_05_Skewer_Shootout&page=3

  • slow clap.....

  • get a bolt

This. Look at our countersunk screws and cup washers and then try to find a QR which can even get close. @amey I'll even send you some of the nice M6 screws if you add £1 onto your top caps payment.
