The same mould as this below isn't it?
Dengfu say theirs has 60mm BB drop, which is a proper copy of the Cervelo. My screen ruler says the PX BB drop matches the BB shell ID, i.e. 35mm

Actually looks a bit better than a T4.. not exactly hard though.
£1k is basically df4 money though. I know which I would rather have. -

Still the same frame shape though...bb shell is just in a different place relative to the bottom point of the frame...see the clearer picture on HongFu's site...

Planet X Koichi San II ... An oversized tapered fork ...
Switch that for a disc fork for a super commuter bike :)
Isnt a headtube angle of 72.5 + a fork with 35mm rake pretty slow steering?
-

That looks like the BB30 version, so it's hard to tell whether the centre is any lower. The point though is that something which is better than a T4 as a frame with wheels in may not be better once you've added rider and handlebars 25mm further above the frame.

It says Trail 35mm on the geometry chart. I doubt whether that's what they really mean, but 35mm trail would be fairly twitchy ☺
-
• #1758
yes but that would require a fork with a rake of about 66mm.... Planet X strikes again!

All that integrated shizzle, yet there are seat and down tube bottle cage mounts...
Still, kudos for getting master "cockpit" wranglers, Selcof onboard!

i was confused by the stem situation in a era where most manufacturers have it inline with the top tube with a head tube recess

Target market innit - would love to know the ratio of sleevless:testers that buy PX bikes

Selcof shut up shop in 2008 and sold the remaining assets to Rivolta s.p.a. Since there is no sign of bike products on Rivolta's website, I assumed that they had in turn sold the old stock and brand name to PX

Planet X Head of Design Jamie Burrow (above) has been working long and hard to try to decipher the Chinese writing on this drawing he received from the bike designer. -

hah, busted

He must be using that new CAD plugin for Safari that, er, no-one has ever heard about.

Anyone using TriRig Alpha?
Using with a Zipp stem (and assembly paste) that is rated for 4Nm and the basebars keep slipping.
Swap out the stem for something with a higher rating or increase the torque on the Zipp?
TriRig don't provide a recommended torque for the bars.
-
• #1768
I do and mine doesn't slip so there's no way yours should. I've used it with a cheap PRO stem and spendy PRO stem and it's fine.
Their Sigma stem says: "Use 5-6 Nm of torque on the four M5 socket screws that tighten the handlebar clamp."

your ventus for sale then?

Their Sigma stem says: "Use 5-6 Nm of torque on the four M5 socket screws that tighten the handlebar clamp."
So you'd assume their bars would be able to take that, as they must be thinking they'd be people using them with their stem.
I think I'll swap-out the Zipp for a 3T that's rated for 5Nm: the Zipp has a narrow faceplate and the screws are very close together, whereas the 3T has a broader plate and screws spaced wider apart.

Ha! Sorry, no. It's my race-buddy's bike which I maintain (perhaps that's the problem).
Having compared the two at first hand, I wouldn't swap: the Ventus are finished better and the integrated stem must be more aero.
My Tritone is up for grabs though...
-
• #1772
yeah - must admit I was a bit surprised that you would be going from a ventus to the alpha (unless there were fit issues) :)
-
• #1773
The Alpha X look likely to be on a par with Ventus and you'd think the QC would be better, second time around (especially for the money).
But the OG Alpha don't strike me as being any better than what you'd get on Ali Express.
-
• #1774
Kind of - if the clamping area is smaller though you want to be careful putting more torque through it.

Watched the tream GB team pursuit training in Newport this morning. New cervelo track bikes look pretty good, trek SC style single riser

But with an internal wedge for the seat post...I'm sure Dengfu or whoever the hell it was who designed it did a stack of testing first, rather than copying a tonne of general features and shapes after a quick google image search of aero carbon track frames...LOL.
