don't do that, the fluid is there for a reason.
Never let your dislike (or insert other word for not liking/wanting to see - here) of the doctors ever prevent you from going to see a doctor if there's something wrong with you.

I had a haematoma on my left hip after a massive MTB crash (thought I'd bust my pelvis)
straight to hospital where I passed out and lost all the oxygen from my blood and nearly carped it before they sussed what was wrong, after three blood transfusions, an op to remove 1litre of clotted blood and seven nights in hospital attached to two drain tubes and bottles, they let me go home (with a numb hip and 8 inch scar for me to remember it all by) the whole left side of my body swelled up and went purple.
so you can see the importance of getting to the doctors ASAP!

Christ, that sounds nasty. I'm still alive and it was two weeks ago though. Maybe its not as severe
-

if it is haematoma/ internal bleeding and it has not cleared up yet you run the risk for bleeding to death, or circulatory problems involving a blood clot, I'll sit in the waiting room with you if you need.
go to a doctors now.

If you REALLY dont want to go to the doctor phone up NHS direct and get some advice from the nurse who will answer
-
• #24
The thing is that it may not be the very worst case scenario but isn't a couple of hours seeing a Doctor worth the peace of mind?

This seems like reasonable advice to me.
A couple of weeks ago I took a bit of a tumble. I bruised myself up quite a bit but it doesn't hurt anymore.
However, I seem to have a large swollen bit on my hip which is filled with fluid. Yuck! I think it's getting bigger...
How long should I wait to see if it goes down? I prefer to avoid going to the doc's if possible..
Any idea?
