  • left at 6am in the morning, spent 2 hours buying sliced bread and cat food. queued for 3 hours in the post office and forgot why, followed a stray dog to work then fell asleep?

and left a little bit of wee on the chair.

  • What's a "burb"? Is that like a ghetto, but for Scandinavian looking types?

How do I get into this club? Can I bribe somebody?

What about Tynan, if I pay him, can I join?

Pay me and I will put your name to the panel.

'burb = suburbs.. I think the English call them, actually I'm not sure.. boroughs maybe?
ie. not central but the mass of houses around a city..

  • Not so slippery tonight but there were two drivers who, quite independently, tried to take me off while I was rding at speed along Commercial Street/Old Street by suddenly changing lane without looking. I am afraid that after a particularly nasty, vicious 12 hour day at the office, I let loose with some fairly choice and profane language on both occasions and did not take into account the fact that the drivers may themselves be having a hard time at work and might be driving home to ugly and unpleasant wives or to a sad and lonely existence (when I at least have the comfort of cycling home to a wonderful wife.)

    Sorry, if you read this.

Wasn't allowed to rep you! You missed out hitting small children with my stick

  • went down last night. was pegging it along an empty road and took a long wide corner at speed, the bike just came out from underneigth me. no damage apart from the MKS logo being completely scraped off the side of one of my brand new pedals.

i was wearing a leather jacket and gloves, which was lucky becuase i slid about 10 ft. would have done terrible things to my bare skin and clothes.

it was on my MTB with road tires, as my road bikes are currently in pieces. im a little concerned that it was that easy to go down on chunky wheels and tires, it doesnt bode well for when i get them road bikes with thier skinny wheels and slick tires back togather.

  • took a tumble this morning probably as a direct karmic result of being unnecessarily grouchy upthread. ah well.

set off from my house this morning with the sun shining, frost on cars but the air temperature seeming much warmer than it had recently. the road was damp but not icy. I know that because I checked it and thought “hmmm, not icy this morning, that’s good”. left the gate and gingerly rolled 20m to the crossroads sort of feeling out the grip levels, clipping in and generally adjusting knackers etc. crossed the road, still in the saddle, just started to dig in a bit and blam lying on my back in the middle of the road. picked myself up after a brief moment of shock and discovered that the surface was so slippery with black ice I could barely stand. I couldn’t even get my bike upright as every time I tried to pick it up the wheels slipped away from me. it was like trying to get on a bike on a polished lake of frozen oil. very weird

no serious damage done. just ripped bartape, torn jeans and an impressive bruise on my thigh. oh and the worried girlfriend having witnessed the stack and scraped me out of the road starting up the “get a helmet” thing with renewed vigour

I prefer it when it's slippery inside people

  • I prefer "not grouchy" dooks...

    i hope you're alright fella.

  • Santa is bringing this. Grand parents have bought her stabilisers? Tossers.

Best brand of kiddy bikes. Hopefully others will follow suit! The crapuscularity of most children's bikes beggars belief. If you want your child to cycle, you might as well buy them a proper bike. +1.

Get 'em a proper bike, ffs

  • Perhaps we should start doing time trials on ice.

my boss bought one of these for his son, says it's awesome and if they're in good nick you can sellt hem back to islabikes and upgrade to a bigger model as they grow i guess...

  • islabikes do appear to be proper bikes for kids.
The company is run by some UK women's cross champ.
I checked 'em out since they mentioned doing custom frames - maybe they did fixed.

  • @ Willo - She's 4 and like her mother and father will never be the tallest. I would like her to enjoy cycling.

You should let kids enjoy the rough & tumble of a small flighty dirt bike when they are young. Give him a BMX!

Its a crime not to let a kid have one!

Chris Hoy started out in BMX, also shenaze reade who is the UK's best BMX pro, has actually broken track bike records.

You can get em riding indoors in circles when they are a bit older.

  • Track ends? Whack a front brake on and take it fixed! I'm sure your kids would love it!

  • I am taking my road bike in for service today and so rode it into work. First time in over three months that I have ridden a bike with a free wheel and gears. Bloody scary. It keeps moving even when you stop pedalling.

    Wake up...

  • Thank fuck I decided to go out training on my fixed bike last night. Avoided stacking it twice with the momentum of the fixed wheel and pedals keeping me upright. Definately would of gone down on a bike with a freewheel

  • 'have'

  • I love mornings like this!

  • travelled down my driveway on my ass this morning.

Decided to ride to work slowly, but then realised that my pregnant girlfriend would be taking the nippa to nursery soon. rode like a madman the rest of the way, so that I could phone and warn her.

  • travelled down my driveway on my ass this morning.

    Good for you...
