A fix-grrrl with white hat was taking action shots whilst riding (and took a pic of my bike my bike). Anyone here?
Was she the one who sounded American and was with the guy in the Vienna Rad-Rowdies/Dorn im Auge hi-viz waistcoat? She said she wasn't on the forum as she wouldn't be here for long enough. Like that's any excuse ...

A bit of a scuffle happened by Marble Arch around 9pm. I think a cyclist got knocked over by a knt in a silver car. Hope it all turned out okay...
Didn't see that any more. Clive and I must have zipped off just before that happened. Was it in the line of people corking Park Lane northbound?
Just have to say that again for the pleasure: corking Park Lane.

Yeah, I think it was a Jag. I was about 50 metres in front but I heard that the the twat purposely ran in the the cyclist. My girlfriend had a close shave with him as well (further up the road).

i was there too - wasn't the smallest ride i've been on: that was october 2007, i think, which was pouring with rain, so only about a hundred people. i reckon there was about double that this time. i actually felt that we were too small at times to do the stuff we tried to do - take parliament square, etc - but we managed well. funniest point for me was that the cops ended up being on our side, even though they weren't there:
- cycling north from trafalgar square, i took over blocking another car from a cyclist in front of me (the car was trying to turn right across the road and the mass). after a bit, there was an empty stretch of road with some more cyclists coming, and the guy obviously thought he could go through so drives into me. i shout at him to stop and then explain (calmly!) that there are more riders coming, but he didn't hear as his window was up. i gesture for him to wind it down (still in front of him) and am joined by several other cyclists so he winds his window down and we start explaining to him. quite civil, but then this cop comes up and politely interjects and tells this guy to just drive on down the road, that we were in the right! quite funny, although i couldn't tell if the cop was having a real go at the kid (he was black and i felt there might have been some prejudice coming into play; another rider also commented on that to me). i hope he was alright.
the other, no-so funny thing was this guy who tried to drive into several people in picadilly. he was a real arrogant prick, but eventually my friend got in front of him and then i got him to wind down his window (when he started reversing into someone else!) and ended up having a conversation with him. he claimed he was on his way to hospital to "see [his] wife who's having a baby and on her death bed" so then i mentioned i was a doctor. he was quite amazed by this and wanted to see id which i was quite happy to show him (name obfuscated, obviously). the result: he ended up waiting a minute or so after the mass had passed by just to see this, thus holding up traffic even more!
sorry for the rant, that was all a bit longer than i expected. hope others had a good ride, too... i left when you went down oxford street, so missed from about 9pm onwards...

The Jag driver was eventually carted off by the police, in handcuffs, for assault on one of the cyclists. He'd jabbed him in the eye. I was there, so even though Jag Driver was a taller man, he sure as hell wasn't a bigger man, and nothing worse happended.
A few minutes before, a van driver tried pushing bikes in front of him forward, using his van to do so. I "spoke" with him, and he chose to stop that activity. Very reasonable in the end.
To the guy on the extra-tall bike; I hope you got your chain sorted, and that you got back to Waterloo safely.

Did he have short dark hair?

The guy on the extra-tall bike? Or Jag Man?
Extra Tall bike guy had dark hair. Nice fella. Chain kept failing though.
Jag Man was a black guy, clearly upset at having to share his London roads with others.
I'll bet his wife is the most depressed person on earth. Hair was shortish. -

Jag man. Oh, nah, the guy trying to kill me was white guy with short dark hair.

Some of his best friends may be black ...
Good ride - if a bit low in numbers. Are most fixed riders fair weather cyclists?
All around fun though. Ended up at the Prince George in Dalston afterwards. Roll on the next one (well, January for me).
