  • Please tell me that's NOT what you need for your new frame...? Hens teeth.... Rocking horse shit.... etc, etc

    Columbus Air teardrop seatpost

does anyone have or know where i can get hold of *a seat post for an old columbus air tubed frame, its really thin teardrop shape like this:

any info would be appreciated cheers guys*

  • thats exactly the case!

  • Just spoke to my mate Steve Goff. I thought I recognised the profile of that tubing - my fork legs are made out of a downtube Steve had!
Steve bought the last 50 sets of that tubing ever imported to the UK, and used the last piece he had to make my forks. The last seatpost he had went years ago (though he does still have a top clamp section, which you can rotate on those posts to allow you to align your seat properly as the post itself won't rotate)

A few years back he said he had a carbon post made by HQ fibre products, a carbon specialist down south. It was expensive but he thinks it'll be your only option, as they really are rocking horse shit.
Give them a call, explain the problem and how you got their number and see if they've still got the kit to make you one!

wow what a reply! cheers mate, its begining to sound like more effort than its worth, the frame and forks were £100 so i dont wanna end up spending that much again on a seatpost. i will call them and ask though, so would i still need the top clamp off steve too?

  • I'm not sure, if you give them a call someone there might well remember how they did it last time!
I'll talk to Steve about the clamp if it turns out you did need it.

Any chance we could see a photo of this rare beast?

  • it may be a hassle but imagine how little drag you'll get from your seatpost ste!

  • i'm looking for a 1" headset and forks. secondhand. colour unimportant, straight or raked. preferably with hole for brake

also a BB. shell width 68mm, english threading.

can collect in Mcr but i sort of expect a poloist or even a hausmate to have something! in fact ben - you need your peugot forks? ste - you need forks off your cutter?

  • Ive got forks off road bikes, if that will do you? either the onees off my now dead orange bike, or the gold ones that originally came with it?
