-
• #5085
appreciate this is a great request but does anyone have an angle grinder or even a pair of croppers i could borrow?
locked my bike up and the key broke in the lock.
-
• #5086
What do you need to get through?
-
• #5087
And are you near a plug socket?
-
• #5088
need to get through a d-lock, and yeah i can probably use a university plug socket.
-
• #5089
Have a spare key? If yes then try using a pair of tweezers and pull the broken bit out. Done it quite a few times saving hapless housemates.
-
• #5090
Yep got a spare key, already tried that but will give it another go.

Try magnets too, I have an angle grinder but no cutting disc you could try the thick grinding wheel that's on it, would probably make lots of pretty sparks. You could also try a hammer if it's a shit d lock or a jack if it's a better one. Alternatively, as it's by the uni, wait for it to get stolen then jump the thief.
-
• #5092
thanks mate. could i ask what diameter your angle grinder is? might be able to get hold of a metal cutting disc.

Just call the fire brigade or uni security, explain, show them the broken key stub and some photos of you and your bike, look ike you're near tears, they'll whip their tools out in no time hur hur
Seriously though, they have access to cutting equipment and don't mind helping people out.
-
• #5094
Yeah, try them first, I'd have to check my basement when I get home to tell you the size, I'd guess at medium.
-
• #5095
Unfortunately uni security only have croppers. Their advice to me was to obtain the most powerful tools i could and then have a crack at it.
Not sure how cooperative the fire brigade would be, don't want to waste their time.
-
• #5096
cheers for the advice though, such an inconvenience purely because of a broken key.
-
• #5097
Ask the sexy firemen.

Steal the one I left for Lily at popup, then get beaten up by Lily.

Or just cycle away, she won't have her freewheel after all.....
