  • Good grief we're doomed

  • Old people shouldn't be allowed the internet

  • Exactly how is Steve here a 'top contributor'? Not sure I would I agree with those parameters.

  • Or young people for that matter. The exact age range can be discussed

  • That’d be the end of LFGSS

  • My neighbourhood FB group is hilarious. Complaints about lack of England flags for the football, posts about reform being the only choice for the election, etc etc

  • Have you seen the BBC news report on the Restore Nature March yesterday?
A few splashes of orange corn starch got more coverage than 60,000 + people marching.

  • Yet the media said paint....

  • FB = Old people.

  • My fourteen year old got a card from her friend on her birthday that basically said, “I want to be your friend on Facebook” and she thought it was hilarious.

  • Someone needs to reply to Steve Miller at night and ask him what the time difference is between Tenerife and the UK because it is light there and dark here.

  • In the BBC news report it quotes English Heritage removing the “paint” with a specialist hand held blower!

  • He probably gets out of breath tying his shoelaces. I can't imagine him taking anyone anywhere against their will....

  • Better things to shame him for than his weight.

  • Not shaming, he could be 25% heavier for all I care. I'm just doubtful he would have been actually capable of carrying out the plan.

  • It was a leaf blower...FFS.

Such a media storm being whipped up.

  • Such a media storm being whipped up.

    It was a leaf blower.

  • This isn’t fat shaming. It’s simple logistics. You’d see him coming and make good your escape before he’d exhausted himself.

  • Seeing as the guy has previous and it's not totally impossible that his victims could read this page, it seems off to be making any kind of light of it.

  • I don't think anyone is making light of it...

  • He's already tied up one girl, and tried to kidnap two others at gunpoint. His intent is rape and murder. Where's the funnies here?

  • Will it really take two weeks for this Court case?

  • Light isn’t the word that springs to mind.

  • Better things to shame him for than his weight.

Slightly devil's advocate, but why is this?

I would imagine that his weight is down to either lifestyle choices or mental health issues.

The former is prime for making light of, the latter seems likely to also be the reason that he is planning to kidnap, rape and kill Holly Willoughby.

So why should we not rip the piss?

I am often confused why obesity is taken to be a protected characteristic.

  • but why is this?

Always seems unnecessary to go straight for physical appearance. Sure you can make "fat bloke can't catch victims" jokes and the guy is obviously awful and doesn't really deserve sympathy but there are plenty of other people around that struggle with their weight, whether through "lifestyle choices", mental health issues or whatever else, perpetuating a culture where it's ok to pick on people's appearance if they do something unrelated doesn't sit too well with me, what if hippy reads it?
