Is there any truth to the rumours that the Millwall fans were singing "no one loots us"?

However on reflection, it was not such a great name for a shop. -

Well, they seem to have discovered a guerilla tactic to apply to disorder........it's not actually likely that they're able to co-ordinate themselves to pull it off.
Very good post.
Why do you doubt they could pull off spontaneous organisation ?
Because there's a big difference between jumping on the band wagon and getting it going. People tend to follow. Sending a group message around saying "who's up for looting?" doesn't necessarily = people on the street.
When you hear these kids being interviewed, it's clear that it's the safty in numbers thing - "why not?" "What are they going to do?" "they can't arrest us all".
But yes what is scary is that why wouldn't they get on board anytime any group of people are gathered. It kind makes me think* that they should limit all public protests to right outside the HoP and Whitehall as there aren't really any shops there and it's uber central rather than in residential areas.
*an idle thought rather than serious or a pisstake.

My cabbie earlier actually said the words "I'm not being racist, but..."
So did one of my friends (!)*
This has all certainly had the interesting effect of flushing out a number of racist fuckwits in my social circle that I had no idea about.
*edit: two of my friends, actually. wtf.

• #8562
Normally cabbies don't feel the need to prefix their racism. He was being extra sensitive.

what? werent you just saying they should be getting fucking tear gassed?
forum is jokez today
I think if you actually read my post you'll find you're wrong. I said that I dont favour any armed policing - but I was trying to understand the ambiguity between the reluctance of the police in Britain to use less lethal weapons such as water cannon, baton rounds and tear gas; and their use in northern Ireland, where the authorities have absolutely no qualms whatsoever on using them very early on in any civil disturbance, considering both groups of people should supposedly be equal under the law as citizens of the United Kingdom.
Its a slightly more complex argument, its a bit more difficult to get your head around than simple sniggering at a black woman looting a pound shop for food, so maybe you should just drop out of this thread and go back to your bebo page and writing in text speak to other morons if you cant be bothered engaging seriously.

And it did fuck all in N Ireland, which is hardly a poster child for civil obedience.

we had +800 at some point on this thread yesterday.. does that constitute a forum riot?

That's not the point being made. The point being made is:
It's ok to shoot "nonlethal" (ha) rounds and CS gas at UK citizens over the water, but not on mainland UK.
Why?Also: People need to think/remember, some of these kids are <15. Would you really want to see a kid hit in the face with a rubber bullet? Clue: rubber bullets are not soft.
-
• #8574
Unbelievable we had 5 arrests here in sleepy Cambridge ( 1% unemployment ) WTF.
It just goes to show this could happen anywhere, I still think shooting the fuckers is the answer. -
• #8575
My Daily Mail demon says yes.
The truth is there are no consequences for those <15yo. A rubber bullet to their (or thief friend) face would be one. The problem comes as those same kids grow up...
